Asking girls for prom date? Promposal

Hi as you know prom is coming up very quickly and I still haven't asked any girl yet. I have my eyes on a couple of girls that I know and sadly, I was too late. I found out they all got dates already.

So now I have my eyes on a few hot girls. I barely know these girls except their names since they're in the same class and they only know I exist and in same class but we never talked before.

The question is that I don't know how to ask then to prom, since they don't even know me either. Things will get very awkward if I don't get this right.

I know most of u will just say grow some balls and just ask her, but I don't know me to say or do. Please give me specific details.

Please help me get this right.
And do I have to give her something or do something when asking her out, like a tradition sort of thing?

And if u may, please help me with prom dress code here.

Well you can be a cheese ball and do some cheesy prom proposal with a cake or candles that spell out prom or something -- but I really don't like that kind of stuff -- or you could just be direct and say "do you want to go to prom with me?" I asked my date to prom that way, just casually asked her and she said yes. It didn't have to be over the top or extravagant, but then again if that's your kind of thing then go for it.

I'm not sure creating an elaborate way to ask someone to prom is a good idea - if you are unsure of how well she knows you. That could be really awkward if it turns out she has to stop and think about if she knows you. I know I would be pretty embarrassed if a guy did some crazy thing and I didn't even really know him.

I'd try to keep it simple as far as asking is concerned.

My freshman year of high school I decided I was going to ask a Senior to take me to the prom with her. What I did was I put a note in Irie's locker (Irie was her name) that said "Go find maitland and give her this." When she gave it to Maitland she gave Irie a card that said: "Go to the deans office ,and give him this." When she went there the dean gave her a red rose and a card that said: "Go find Hailey, and ask her who gave you these.." (Hailey was her best friend) When she went to Hailey she gave her a folded card and another rose taped to a box of choclates. When she unfolded the card it said "Turn around" when she turned I was standing there holding a boquet of roses and a card that said: "Will you take me to prom with you?" And she said yes and it was a spectacular night.

Moral of the story: Make it special and something they will remember

I think I might just directly ask her the question. I'm going to be like hey ... are u going to prom? And I'd she says yes I'll say how bout me and you for prom? Or would you go to prom with me?

And would it be an ideal thing to ask her out to dinner before prom just so we can get to know each other?
