Hello, I am a graphic designer and would like to help out VT by putting together a new website. The forums are great but the main homepage and info pages are slightly plain and seem a little unprofessional.

If I designed a new website would you consider using it? I would keep all of the links, just a new logo, banner and design.

Did you come to VT just to criticize what we have? It's just that you joined yesterday and you're just coming up with idea after idea to change VT. It doesn't need changing, and maybe spend some time on the forums, get to know VT and such before you just go make suggestions.

Also, VT is not a "professional" website, and I don't think the logo makes it unprofessional. They aren't that plain, but assuming they were, you can't make them that much more unplain without it taking away attention from the more important parts. If you want something different, change your theme. VT is not going to be redesigned, I can tell you that much.

I don't see why you keep wanting to change VT. It's great the way it is, and if you don't like it, there is a log out button.

Being flashy and having an intricate looking website is not what this place is all about.

Virtual Teen is about the people. This is a place of support and help. It's about struggle, understanding, and acceptance. The way it looks is very, very far down in priority here.

You can change your pics, avatar, and signature. :) If the colors don't work for you, there are a few different themes.

I was just trying to help the website look a bit more modern, I didn't say its a must just something I was willing to do in my free time for your community. If you don't want any help then that is fine!

The fact of the matter is that nobody uses the website. If they do, they use it and end up finding the forums. That's about it. Other than that, it's basically just there. We do need it up, it does have interesting stuff, like the History of VT, but it'd be a waste of time to update. Besides, I enjoy that it still uses the original VT banner.

Slow down, buddy. You've been here for one day and you're suggesting to change the entire site. Browse the forums a bit, get a feel for the site and our community here. We don't need to change every little thing to your standards, everything is working fine just the way it is -- sure maybe a few little things can be changed but they are so unimportant that it doesn't really matter a whole lot. This is a help site. We are here for teens in need and always have been/will be. We don't need a bunch of new forums and sections unrelated to that, we don't need new logos (when our logo works perfectly fine and looks nice with our themes), and we don't need somebody coming in here and saying after a few hours on the site that it looks like shit and is unprofessional. You have no idea what the site is like or what we're all about. If you want your suggestions to have a little more weight then my suggestion is that you actually post as a member, make some friends here, and then rethink all of these changes you're bringing up -- because in all honesty they're not necessary and I think you'll realize that after a little bit of membership.

I like VT for its simplicity and nice, yet quiet design. The website itself isn't thrown in your face and its easy enough to navigate. Same with the themes really I like all of the themes on Virtual Teen for their ease of use.

I like the lay out it helps to bring people in yet keep others away if you get me i like how its so simple that only people who are really interested find this which makes us a stronger community and i like that alot if we had a flashy design although yes it is likely to bring new members i think it would make VT lose its spirit if you get me :)

Pretty much this. We're not in seek of someone to change our site, and if we were, I think we'd choose someone who's been here longer than a day.
As Mike said, get to know the forums a little bit more. Meet people, actually get to know the community before bombarding us with suggestions on how to make the site look modern. We don't need it to look modern. It's not because we're lazy and don't feel like updating anything - it's because updating the site and adding every little thing just to make it cool isn't our goal.

On top of every thing that's been said here, the last thing VT needs is anything more flashy than the banners already are when countless members hide this site from their friends and families. No point dragging any unwanted attention to the site by making it look 'professional.'

Secondly, quit calling yourself a Graphic Designer. You're a fucking hobbyist. If you were a certified Graphic Designer then you'd be far too old to join this site as is. You have not studied art on a collegiate level and earned a degree certifying that you have done so. You're a hobbyist, as is every member on VT who dabbles in these things. I know people who would decapitate you for calling yourself a Graphic Designer.

Yes it is a hobby, but also my career goal as I have created freelance graphics and website designs for businesses and personal use. I have completed an extended diploma in Graphic Design and am taking a Level 4 Degree or Apprenticeship shortly.
