How do you feel about the whole issue with the nukes and all? How do you feel the situation should be addressed?

Well for Britain I reckon we have one of our Subs on standby in the area, I think we should be prepared for a state of war just in case but it seems like complete Rhetoric for NK, I mean yes there leader is a nut job but I'm sure they have one or two capable commanders who know that if they attack then they will be swashed like a bug. I also have a hunch that it's just a massive PR campaign to get everyone looking at that region of the world

You know Kim's his surname right? Anyway, does NK have any real allies? Because realistically if they try anything, I reckon it wouldn't be too difficult for us to invade them and put a stop to it.

I think to be honest, the best thing for other countries to do is ignore it, by all means put some defences on standby, I'm sure we have one of the Vanguard-class submarines in the area now. But countries, especially America, have to leave them alone. If they want to go around posturing and making threats, leave them to it!

I don't think enough people take North Korea seriously. They have over 1 million men in their army, nuclear weapons, and missiles that can travel pretty solid distances. I'm pretty sure they said they were going to launch an attack tomorrow, and warned all foreigners to evacuate SK. If they do, the US will certainly retaliate. The biggest concern I have is China's involvement. They have always supported NK, but have said that they do not want a war. If NK engages in combat and China backs them up, WWIII is pretty much upon us, as the US will not tolerate that.

It's all directed towards the North Korean people. He's trying to prove his capacity to command the military since his daddy promoted him up through the ranks so quickly. I don't feel that he should be antagonised, but, neither do I think he should be handled with kid gloves.

I feel as though one of these two explanations, or a combination of the two, likely explains NK's irrational behavior:

1. He's just trying to show off for the population. He wasn't originally in line to become leader and is a young leader, new to the job. If this is true, he'll probably launch a test missile into the ocean on the 15th (a major national holiday in NK - the founder's birthday) and then tensions may die down a bit.

2. He's facing a lot of pressure from senior military officials, who are power-hungry and may want war. We don't know much about North Korean politics and about how the military works. Whoever controls the military controls the country, to an extent, and if senior officials have are power-hungry and have a lot of influence, they may be pressuring Kim Jong-un to be more aggressive.

China isn't likely to back them, they have already told the North to calm down, China will stay out of it as much as possible, although I'm sure the US will find a way of dragging them into it... And actually, they don't currently have nuclear weapons, it is not thought they have developed a warhead small enough to be carried on a missile.

The only nuclear weapons ever actually used in warfare weren't delivered via missile, they were dropped from a plane. Just saying...

I doubt NK would use a nuclear missile...If that happened, there would be repercussions, obviously, and there is no way China would back them.

I'm not too worried personally, as I don't think North Korea are targeting GB.
I think we should wait it out, we don't want to provoke NK any more.

This reminds me of Starship Troopers. The humans assumed that they were just fighting dumb bugs that would fall easily, when in reality, the humans get slaughtered in just the first few hours of the Klendathu Invasion.

Bottom line, don't underestimate your enemy. This is exactly what they want us to think, that they are just a bunch of blundering children that found some sticks and some rope, so that when we let our guard down, they strike. On the other hand, they may just be all talk, but can we really afford to take that chance?

I know the only ones used in war were dropped from an aircraft, but that was nearly seventy years ago. Since then there have been huge advances in air defence capability rendering any heavy bomber leaving North Korea loaded with nuclear weapons almost useless. Have a look at the capabilities of the Daring-Class destroyer if you think North Korea is in with a chance of flying an aircraft any considerable distance from their shores.

(By the way, the Daring-class is the most powerful and the most advanced air defence destroyer ever built, it's British, but slightly lesser capabilities apply to American destroyers)

They can't even feed their own people or hold a stable economy. They won't be able to do ANYTHING without being blown to bits.

It makes me laugh how scared people get of them. What the hell is everyone worried about? if they were smart theyd know the whole world would turn on them for one mass invasion.

America once made the mistake of underestimating Japan in WWII. Again with Vietnam and in the Korean war the Koreans were kicking ass aswell as the Americans. All over, the world underestimates the small Asian Countries. But North Korea has the ability to conquer South Korea, has a powerful ally we probably don't know of that can provide backup when/if war strikes.

And you don't know what the Chinese are thinking. America is in huge dept to China. And they could use the War as an opportunity to take over the economy. China knows that if NK goes to war, they'll most likely be charged to provide backup in that War. And America is in no situation to have a full scale war with any country. Their economy is almost down the toilet, Obama keeps making America go into more dept.

And America really doesn't have the funds, they'd also have to pull troops form the Middle-East to the NK region. But doing that can make them lose their hold on the Middle-East. So what do you do while you have a large country like the US in a corner like this? You attack. America has the military man power, and also the naval and air power to combat it. But do they have the funding and the resources to fight a potential nuclear war? Answer: No.

America could very well likely fall if NK decides to go to war, and if China does back them, that objective will be more possible. Countries like UK, Russia and Japan can fight them off, but America most likely won't last a year of continuous fighting. Not in the way they are now. Perhaps if they were like their WWII selves, it would've been better, NK wouldn't have declared war because they'd have been flattened in less than half a year. But with their current selves? Lets see how that works out with Obama at the helm.

My 0.02c don't underestimate that country. There's a reason many people fear it. My reason is the one I stated above.
