Wouldn't mind some new light skins on here, maybe a pale blue colour with a nice modern logo.. just stuck using the vbulletin default as the others are a bit boring and dark :$

I like the dark ones, but a pale blue or silver theme would be cool.

It takes a lot of coding to make a new theme (repeating this from similar suggestion: http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=131139). But I wouldn't mind more lighter colored themes...

Realistically, you'd only have to edit the code of a current theme.

However, as Jess has said and has been said before, it's a lot of work. I volunteered to make a new theme back in the day after I remade the banners, but it never took off. I don't think I'd much bother with one now though seeing as it really is pointless. The forum has several themes already.

If you feel the banner isn't modern enough, feel free to make your own and submit it to the Artwork section to get some backing behind it. That's how the current banners came into being. If you can't, get staff support and I'll gladly make a more modern themed banner.

However, change in forum appearance isn't common around here, so don't get your hopes up. In my four years here I believe only the banners have been changed, and that even only happened once.

The SilverBlue theme is pretty light with a few dark colors mixed in.

I'd like another darker theme as it goes, I've been using B&G since I joined, it might be refreshing to get another dark and a light. However as this is only a suggestion for a light one, a new light one would be good. I mean, when the Christmas one comes out I use that because it's light, yet isn't too light so something like that maybe?

I think one of the most exaggerated phrases I have seen so far is "it takes a lot of coding". It really doesn't. It takes more images than it does coding. The only code you do is change a few hex color codes. The other is all adding images to match the color scheme.

Wonder.

I'd like a new dark theme as well. Black and gold is just too dark of a background and the gold looks weird to me. I have no idea why, it just does.

Matching the proper hex codes in a way that appeals to the theme is a bitch though.

And yes, everyone knows it takes a million images, but those aren't nearly as hard to make.

True @ the hex codes.
I'm good with color matching though, and am able to make styles in less than 20 minutes as long as I have all of the images already (I bought button packs a long time ago, so I use those according to color). Depends on the person, though. They are not EXTREMELY hard to do, though, just time consuming.

Or we could just find a lighter colored style that's already been made...

I'll give it a look and see if there's anything that I like. If any of you want to look and suggest something you're more than welcome to also.

An admin double posting? *gasp*
I wanted to bump this thread so this post gets seen rather than edit my post and have it appear as read already.

We've got two styles which I think are pretty cool, and if you guys agree then we'll keep them and put our logo up top. They're called "Simple Red" and "vBSEO Style 1.0 PRO". Check them out and give your opinions on them.

I do like the vB Pro, but I think it's kind of pointless and a little messier looking the pre-existing vB style.

Simple Red just feels...weird. This site to me has always been associated with cool or dark colors to me. Even vBulletin has blue in it.

vBSEO could definitely replace the current SilverBlue. It's far more appealing.
As for Simple Red, I have to agree with Connor. It doesn't feel "VTish" and really, doesn't seem all to attractive either.

I'll still always use ForeverBlue though, so ignore my ramblings. (;

I would be in favor of this. SilverBlue already looks like vB, just a bit styled up and nicer on the eyes.

Simple red = no.
It looks so wrong to me for some reason. VT has always been blue and green. Black and gold is my favorite skin, but it shares the same dark, almost relaxed feel. The red color...i don't know how to describe a color, but it feels immediate and negative. I just don't like it at all.

The other one is great though. Clean and simple.

The vBSEO Style 1.0 PRO theme I quite like. It is the easiest light theme on VT for me to read. As for the Simple Red theme, just no. It has poor contrast between the text and background, making it very hard to read.

I'll probably use the vBSEO theme a bit more but I'll probably go back to Black & Gold.

They've already been installed,

You can change your theme via user cp or at the bottom of the page.

The Simple Red theme is quite nice. I would prefer to keep Silver Blue over Vbseo Style 1.0 simply because it looks nice. However that is just my opinion.

I think the Vbseo Style 1.0 should replace the original vb theme, I don't think we need two white ones. Silver Blue should stay, and the red one I'm not keen on.

I would not be a fan of replacing vBulletin in the slightest, as a member who uses it as a secondary (depending on location). I know they look similar, but the vBSEO style just looks too weird. I like vB for it's simple design and everything being clean and generic. SilverBlue looks garbage already if you ask me, so why not get rid of it?

I might have missed something. However, why do we need to get rid of a theme anyway?

We don't have to, but I somewhere in the the thread it was suggested replacing old ones for new ones. I mean, I wouldn't mind seeing SilverBlue replaced, but no other ones. Or we could keep em all. Doesn't bother me either way.

I agree. The vBulletin style should NOT be removed. It's a simple, clean design and I doubt I would be changing my theme

IMO, the Silver Blue, vBulletin style, and vBESO are the best. All 3 are simple, which a forum theme should be IMO.

I'm glad to here this because I was just thinking that the themes on Virtual Teen have become apart of the VT history and it would be a shame to see any of them go. Maybe I don't like change but something should never be removed especially something as big a theme.

I like the vBSEO Style 1.0 PRO, but I am an oldie who is still stuck forever on Forever Blue :P

It would look awesome with the current VT banner, if possible :)

Also, this will need to be fixed (Happens when your in a forum, not on the main page)

The PSD file for the current VT banners is long gone. It is possible, through color correction and some cutting, to do it; however, it would be simpler, in my opinion, to just make a new banner.

Unless you just moved the SilverBlue one over.

No one really asked you to like every theme :P

But I'd be in favor of for the time being bring the silver one over, and looking into possibly a new banner. I don't know, I kinda do like the ones we have now, but it might be more trouble than it's worth to edit the current one without a psd file.

I like the vBESO theme. I can see myself using it along with the Forever Blue and the Black and Gold that I already use.

I don't like the Forever Red at all. It just screams "Valentine's Day Theme" and even then I probably wouldn't use it. It just looks too different to me, after seeing all the dark and "cool" colors in the themes.

I do like everyone having choices though, so none being removed is a good thing. :)

On these 2 new styles, the postbit_legacy template must be missing the Name field variable, as it is not visible.

They're still being trialled. If both are chosen to be kept then all of the kinks will be worked out.
