Cause it seems like many straight, homophobic guys are alright with lesbians cause they find it hot.

I think that's partially true.

It does seem like it. I've seen a lot of hate comments that seem to point towards mainly males....

It's because they fantasize about being in the middle.

I'd say it's more accepted, but, I don't think that makes them any less discriminated against. Lesbians who are married don't have any more rights than gay men who are married.

And, then, there's the fact that women are already discriminated against just because they're women....

Actually, it`s said that women, straight, lesbian or whatever sexuality have a bit of a bi curious side. It`s not that a woman can be a lesbian just because she chooses to be or that a straight woman will find another woman`s boobs hot. I guess in a way lesbian sex is like continuous foreplay, and since women need a lot of foreplay to reach orgasm, that turns them SLIGHTLY on.

I feel like the answer is yes and no. I feel like it is easier to come out as a lesbian than as a gay man. A lot of guys think thats lesbians are hot and it's generally not as big of a shock when girls say they like other girls. There were a couple girls that came out in my school and although people talked about it at first, I never heard any negative feedback. When a guy came out, lots of guys were making funny faces and comments behind his back. I do however think that lesbians have it a little harder, just because they are seen as weaker and lesser as f***ed as that sounds. I feel like lesbians have it worse because they experience not only sexism, but homophobia as well.

I believe there are more lesbians than homosexuals, so if nature is any indication, it is more likely that a woman will be lesbian. My sister has a theory that all women are bi. I think it is more culturally accepted to be lesbian than to be homosexual too. A lot of men are turned on by lesbian/bi girls.

No doubt many do :)

But even those guys who don't fantasise probably don't see anything distasteful about 2 women "together" sexually. Whereas for a lot of straight men the idea of 2 men is extremely distasteful. Many people judge others by thinking would I do this myself - if no then the activity is wrong.

And, then, there's the fact that women are already discriminated against just because they're women....

Not sure Margaret Thatcher would agree with that. Obama said yesterday "she stands as an example to our daughters that there is no glass ceiling that can't be shattered"

Anyway, I think lesbians are more accepted by society than gay men. I mean, you always hear "Adam and eve, not Adam and Steve." Have you ever once heard that with eve and another girl? I think the difference comes from how men feel about it. Girls seem to be pretty accepting overall of other people's sexuality, but many men are more accepting of lesbians because as someone else said, they want to be between them.

Girls tend to be more comfortable with coming out. Girls also have less tendency to label themselves, or make such a big deal about it. You see a billion topics on here about a guy asking if he's gay because he kissed a guy, but I've never seen one about a girl worried that she's gay. Lesbians/Bi women are definitely more accepted.

I think it is purely because girls tend to be more accepting of a persons character and sexuality. Also straight guys sometimes have the attitude towards gays that 'it's fine as long as they don't spread it', it's just the fact that some straight men don't really understand it at all and that leads to fear

Good topic.

I think lesbians are certainly a bit less discriminated against, mainly because guys well... think it's hot. Some guys see homosexuality in males as disgusting and unnatural -- while some see homosexuality in females as a sexy dream come true.

I think girls tend to be more comfortable with coming out, and with homosexuality as a whole, because of the fact that there isn't as much heat on the female side of the spectrum. Females tend to be more accepting of homosexuality, so they don't fear as much resentment from their closer friends, and they also have the "hot" thing going for them. I agree with you.

I think that young straight guys agree with it more, and young straight guys are (sorry to say) usually the ones who do the discrimination.
