View Full Version : A little scared of myself now.

OK, long story short, my little brother was pissing me off while I was cleaning dishes. Something he said made exceptionally angry, and I took a butter knife and stabbed it into(!) a solid granite countertop. This bothers me, because 1) I can only bench 80lbs, so this insane strength burst is disturbing, 2) there is now a notch in my granite, and 3) I don't know why I was really that angry.
Can anyone help me out?(Even if I placed this in the wrong spot(?))

I'm pretty sure when people get angry the heart pumps out more blood to muscles and that makes u stronger I think

Maybe friends and family...

Has this rage ever happened to you before?

On the bright side...if you pulled it out, doesn't that mean you're the king?

No, I don't normally have rage at all. Additionally, this was a butter knife to solid, two-inch thick granite. I cannot even comprehend how a weak kid like myself could penetrate that. And mojo, yes, I am the king of unexplainable dilemmas that irk men, women, and their children's children.

Hit it with the knife again when you are not angry and see if its just u are stronger than u thought u were

Went over and tried it real quick. The knife bounced off the counter and nearly twisted my hand...

That's not good, but I'm pretty sure when people get angry the muscles tighten up and the tension makes the arm move faster and stronger

I think the fact that it scares you is enough of a reason to not worry about it too much. Little sibs piss everyone everyone off sometimes, man. Hormones make us moody and adrenaline made you strong. If you notice it happening again try walking away for awhile. If you notice it starting to happen more often, talk to your parents so you can see your doctor. Hope I helped some, and all hail the king :)

See he's smart, I can't explain things well, that's basically what I meant

Weak spot in the granite? haha, just kidding.

If I remember correctly...your body releases adrenaline when you're angry, causing you to temporarily be stronger.

@boringkid: Thanks for your help, I'm always open to hear advice.
@Bethany: Yes, but THAT much stronger? Maybe I'm just not believing the facts...
@xmojox: Thanks man, I think I might have to ask my parents about why that happened, etc. And funny thing, my little brother likes to anger me, he thinks it's funny when I confuse myself trying to sensibly communicate.

I dunno, a combination of adrenaline and a weak spot of granite? haha. Possibly, the anger caused you to not be thinking as you usually would, causing you to not limit your strength as you usually would with a knife (as we usually don't use knives with our full strength out of fear of hurting ourselves or someone else - which you maybe weren't considering when you were angry). Just theorizing here. If that made any sense.

I've definitely experienced the same thing though.

Thank you for the help, as well as the exceptionally good grammar. But perhaps I should take more care when using objects...

Don't let them bother you so much. It's not worth the anger.

Can we get a photo of that or the damage
Cuz I'm calling BS on that
One: a butter knife being pointy or string enough to do that even with enough force behind it
Two: being able to grip it well enough to hit it hard enough...
