Is the meaning of life nothing? Is that our main goal? The ability to be self-efficient without the help nor need of anything never worring never tired never anything, the point of life is to do so little work and reap the most gains, what do you think?

There is no such thing as THE meaning of life since what brings meaning to my life is most likely completely different than what brings meaning to yours, just remember it is not what life does of you, it is what you do of life.

The answer is 42.
But seriously, I believe that the meaning of life is different for everyone, and its our job to discover what it means to us.

I don't believe there is a universal meaning of life. The meaning of life is something that convinces one that his or her life has a purpose, and there are an infinite number of possible meanings.

Why does there have to be a meaning of life? Why do we need a meaning and reason for everything? Maybe life is just a random instance with no reason of creation or ending...

Is the meaning of life not to just 'live'? We're here to be alive, and do whatever the fuck we want to do. Right?

Live, die, repeat. Life is just fucking confusing. People are scared to die, and I just am like "ehh, I was going to die anyway. Let's throw a party", because I have transcended the need to find meaning, as nothing has meaning.

The meaning of life, in general, is to propagate itself. The meaning of life is to survive long enough to reproduce, to carry on the existence of that species. Humans give special value to human life, and we like to think there's some reason for us being alive. I don't think so.

The meaning of life is whatever you want it to be. Either that or 42.

But it's still a meaning, isn't it? To say that what you do of life is a meaning to live.
A meaning of live is to forgive and forget. You only have the present, are never guaranteed a future, and the past can never be a basis to judge your current actions. This is -a- meaning of life, but not -the- meaning of life. Make of it what you wish.

I don't believe in a meaning of life, i guess the idea that we simply exist could be the meaning but seems rather lacking.

essentially the meaning of life is to survive
we're getting so advanced though, the meaning of life is changing and everyone's could be be different. I think nowadays it's just to adapt and thrive in the situations we're put in, although I think that the meaning of life is purely emotional could be different for everyone. it should be the meaning of a life, designated through time for each individual only to be configured in the end in reflection rather then generalisation for everything alive :p

Well, unless there is some higher power, like a god, then there isn't really an exact "meaning".
But, in my opinion, the meaning of life is to leave a legacy behind, once you're dead. Do something that will make you be remembered, after you've died.
That doesn't mean you have to famous or anything, it can be something as simple as being remembered as a caring and nice person.
In my opinion, that is what the meaning of life is. To leave a legacy, no matter how big or small it is.

Personally, I think it's different for everyone of us. Now, not trying to sound to religious here, yet I do think we're all here for a purpose, and it's our responsibility to discover that purpose, and act upon it. Some may agree, others may not. For me, I believe my purpose in life is to make a difference in the world, helping others in need, etc. That's why I love helping coach little league baseball, being an junior auxiliary volunteer at the hospital, and plain out helping people.

I agree, and if you insist there is a meaning to life, that meaning would be different for every person

But I guess when it all comes down to it, everybody lives a different world. Sure, we see the same thing and breath the same air, but we all react differently and think differently about what we see, hear, smell and understand. If we choose to believe in a religion, of course it`s going to change us in some way, because we no longer think the universe is without creation. If we don`t think there will be an ending to our lives, we won`t strive to accomplish our goals without a given amount of time. As it is said, our thoughts become our worlds, therefore if we think we serve no purpose, we won`t move ahead or become better at anything. Back before lights were made, people had a need to create something. Now that we have all these luxuries, some of us think there is nothing more to be accomplished. But there are so many things we don`t yet know exist and don`t understand in the least. they could reveal themselves in time or we may have to push to find them. Some things only one person may know, some things exist that people will never know about. Uh, if we just wanted to hear in short what I think, just look down xD

Scientific answer: Reproduce.
Moral answer: Do whatever makes you happy. Sure, jump through the hoops to get you there, but be happy. Make other people happy. Do something to be proud of.
I don't think in life you truly need anything more to live for.

Societal Meaning of life is to work..You spend atleast the first 25 years of it in some sort of school or college. Spend the next..Oh lets say 30-50 years working your ass off. It's a Biblical phrase I try to live by, and that my grandfather would always tell me, "Man doesnt work, he doesnt eat". Personal meaning of life depends on the person I guess. Me personally, I just want to have a street or something named after me..lol

Scientifically, the meaning of life is probably to survive. Everything you do, everything you try to achieve, you do it to survive. Everything that has life just wants to live. Everything builds up to living. Our technology, our sophisticated economy, everything...is done to ensure our survival.
But, it could be argued that the meaning of life is to seek happiness, to pursuit it. Certain emotions make us happy, emotions like honour, love, friendship. Humans, by nature, are generally social. To just reap the most gains is against our social nature and will generally drive away others.
We are social because "teaming up" with others gives us a higher chance to survive. (This is alike Ricardo's theory of comparative advantage) To hurt others would cause people not to like us which would hurt one's chances of survival.
The emotions previously stated demonstrate the nature of humans to want to be social. Reaping the most gains does not cause any of those emotions.

Technically the meaning of life is to reproduce to continue our species. Plus all the religious stuff depending on what/if you believe.

it depends on who you ask, point being, your responsible for what meaning you give your life. What do you want it to mean? Do you want people to find courage in what you do and say, to gain awareness? It means something to somebody, most everything you say and do. This, right now, the present, is what you have to work with, and everything you do can mean as much or as little as you'd like.

Ask Darwin and his evolution and they will tel you its reproduction and survival to do so; asd D. N. Adams and he will say its 42; while a filosofer will tell you its death.
There is no answer to this question.
