I changed schools at the beggining of the 7th grade, in my new school I was easily accepted, made a couple of friends and all that. In the 2nd semester, this guy... Let's call him Asshole (yep, I hate him alright) came up to me on one Friday and said that I MUST bring him a Playstation 3 game which was the newest one and costed a lot, for that money I could get dressed, including the underwear and shoes. He said I must bring it next Monday. I said no, he said he will get his "gang" and "beat the life out of me". I said: OK, no game. I thought that I acted out boldly, but foolishly, since he is towering over me, but fuck that I will go down fighting, a man chooses a slave obeys, I am not a slave. On Monday I did not bring the game and the following conversation started:
Asshole: Have you got the game?
Me: No.
Asshole: Are you deaf? I said BRING me that game.
Me: Are YOU deaf? I said NO.
Asshole: You will be thaught a lesson.
After school I was ready to fight at least 5 goons, armed with knives, thought about ditching it the moment I saw a blade. Nothing happened. Tomorrow I boldly said NO again and every day till Thursday I kept repeating that word. On Friday, it was over. No one bothered me about it. I did not tell a teacher, since here in Serbia I will just get my ass kicked for "snitching". Suffice to say, you solve it with your fists. I told my parents, the y said I should have told them earlier, not after it was over, but I did the right thing for not saying yes. My experience: never give in. You do not deserve it. I was ready to defend my self and probably get injured, but I my bold act pretty much saved me. It probably made Asshole think: If he is not affraid of the 5 of us, what can I expect? If a fight broke out, I would pin Asshole on the ground, since the pack is weaker without a leader. If you have a failing school system where if you tell a teacher about serious violence and suffer more, stick to my advice. If you have a decently safe school system, contact the principal, and then the police.

Wow, that's a pretty brave and courageous thing you did there, and I think we can all take a lesson from this, actually.

Usually we hear bullying stories about how it starts off with one simple yes, and then through the psychological process of "Gradual Commitment" a person is going to become more and more open to saying yes to things as it feels wrong to break a chain. Bullying works the exact same way. The fact you resisted because you didn't see the bully as an authority figure or someone of a higher class than you, you stayed in your autonomous state, and that's something a lot of people can't do.

Though what you did is good, violence doesn't solve anything, and if you retaliated, who knows what could happen. They had weapons, it was just as well they didn't do anything because if they did, things would have gotten from bad to worse if you retaliated. An eye for an eye would make the whole world blind, remember.

Wherever you live, you do have to tell someone even if it is considered "snitching". "Snitching" is just a stupid name given to those that want people to get into trouble, but it's fine to report something when it's in the best interest of someone. And if it's bullying, that person is you.

Got bullied for years throughout my school life, most of the cocky ones have no friends at college and are going nowhere. If i see them now and they make a sarcastic comment I don't take it i walk up to them and make them say it to my face.. thing is they act different when they are on their own!!

In Serbia, telling someone except the cops is not a good idea since it does not solve anything, the principal and the counselor will tell them how that is bad and that they should not do it, and the one who told them will essentially suffer at the hands of the bullies. The cops can only act if you have physical evidence, like a signed note, bruises, cuts, stab wounds etc. They will take amything else as hearsay. I generally do not retaliate with physical violence or violence at all, if they would have beat me, I would not come the day I leave the hospital with a weapon and butcher them, I would just call 192 (Serbian equivalent of 911) and have them arrested and prosecuted. I would let the law enforcement handle it.
