Just figured I'd see who else enjoys the saddle time on a bike.

I love road biking. I can't wait for warmer weather again so I can go on my trips again. Just curious do you ride a older or newer bike?

I love road cycling. I live in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, so there are some pretty cool rides I can take around here.

I think my (inefficient, ancient, and not a road bike) bike is reaching the end of its life, so I'm hoping a new, free one will magically drop out of the sky, haha.

Do you guys live in bike-friendly areas? I don't, so that can be...interesting, haha.

Pennsylvania is where I am also! East of Harrisburg is a lovely area, if you don't mind the hills.

Oh, hey, that's not too far from me!

Haha, I like the downhill part of the hills :D The steep uphills are tolerable.

I used to ride all the time, road and mountain but i only really use my bike to get around when I don't get a bus at the moment, or for a cute ride with the girlfriend.

They shouldn't be in the way. Why are they riding in the road? Unless you are doing 35, stay close to the shoulder, other bicyclists!

Did you mean intolerable? Haha, anyhow, I decided to be aggressive on a downhill today, and topped out at 51.7mph. I'd say that isn't bad.XD

Nice! Dumb question, but do you have something on your bike that detects your speed, or do you have a separate...thing that counts speed?

@herp derp

I haven't done any racing yet. Do you race?

I have this fancy GPS device called my phone.:D And yes I do, mostly for charity. With the Tour of Hershey coming up, I'm trying to get in form.

I race, yes. I mostly do small races to build fitness for one big annual race. (The biggest individually timed event in the world - Argus Cycle Tour check it out)

Sounds like you are in better shape than me though. I do 35 mile races, not 70 milers yet. ;)

It's always fun taking risks on a bike

I used to do it when I lived in Bogotá. Every sunday mayor avenues were closed down specifically for bikes to go there, I used to go with my father and we could cover as much as 100 blocks and then 100 more going back home. Unfortunately Mexico City doesn't offer that in the upper zones.

Well, i bike, but not road. I love cross country mountian. too bad i can't afford one of those nice cross country/enduro bikes. Ride a hard tail. Longest ride was 200Km, one direction(had to bike back also :P) took around 4 days. had a rest at the end mark of the 200km and at the 100km mark. Took the 2 days one direction as I was riding in wet conditions, offroad, and had an accident(nothing major)

I do cycle but not in-road. I use to go to some hilly trails about 20km away from here. Right now i'm saving for a new bike, which I hope I can get for the summer.

I don't really do pavement too much but there's a ton of hard dirt/gravel trails by our house so we ride those lots. I try to do a 15 mile loop 3-4 times a week after school and am currently working up to a longer 25 mile loop to do on weekends.

The hardest part is doing it alone, seems like half the time my lazy ass friends want no part of it, thank God for ipods!

Haha, dumb friends. ;) On another note:
IS ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN THE TOUR DE HERSHEY THIS JUNE?
I'm going and wanted to know who wanted to ride in a group. If anyone does, of course. ;)

I have been riding a friends road bike (a Merida he lets me use on triathlons) after I ruined set of tires on my Enduro due to too much on road riding.

I usually ride to and from gym and it's a lot easier to ride on the road, but it's only transportation for me. Even though I have done a few pacey stints on it during triathlons, I prefer get my riding/racing thrills out on the dirt :P

Road biking is awesome! I love getting out and just going wherever I can. I usually go for 25-40 mile rides. How far does everybody else typically ride?

My gym is like 5 km away (roughly 3 miles haha) which, as per my last post is pretty much the only constant ride I do on a road bike. Even then, if it's raining I'll drive instead of ride in the rain on the slicks :)

My mountain bike rides are generally anywhere from 10km-75km for a day.

Now that the weather is nicer, I've been riding pretty much about 30 miles everyday. Living in rural Wisconsin, I have a lot of back country roads to ride on.
