What do these symbols mean?

The first one on the left I'm sure means its a hot topic that has been locked. A hot topic means a thread that has 16+ replies or has more than 120 views. A topic can be locked for various things.

The second one in the middle means a thread has new posts

The third one on the right means its a hot topic thread with new replies.

If you see those images with a grey dot on them, it means exactly the same as above but also means that you've posted in those threads.

If it was a thread that had been locked it would have a little lock in the middle of it (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/images/bgold/statusicon/thread_lock_new.gif). Like Sandeep said, the grey dot in the middle means you've posted in that thread.
