Has anyone seen Michel Moores new movie Sicko?
I watched it the other night and I'm now very thankful that i'm Canadian
Our system isnt perfect but I've never had any major problems with it
I've herd of some people waiting extremly long times in waiting rooms in like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal etc..
Biggest one I've been to for ER was Victoria and I only waited a lil over an hour and thats because mine wasent life threatening and some drunk retard had just fallin off the breakwater barrier and broke like...everything
I've got a surgery comming up I saw my family doc, a specalist around 3 weeks later an MRI less then a week after that and I go in for surgery on Jan 15th simply because we both figured after christmas and new year would be nice that way i'm not in a hospital bed or doing physical therapy during the holidays
I couldnt help but wonder....How much would this cost in America?
Doc visit
Specalist visit
MRI exam (they had to inject me with this special dye 3 seperate times instead of just once so that would be extra)
Operation
And I have to be admited a day before and I'll probly be there for 5 days after so thats 7 days in the hospital on allot of painkillers like morphine
and then i'm on morphine and/or tylenol 3 when I geet out for awhile
and then I have physical therapy for awhile
and visits back to the doc and more MRI's after to make sure everythings where it should be
For me here in Canada I don't pay a dime its all done through taxes a tiny bit from every cheque
If I was in the states this would be tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars
If I had insurance they would "decline" me because its a birth defect so it would be considered a pre-existing condition
Before the movie it never even dawned on me I've never had to pay ever
So the idea of having to pay for visits is just very....alien
and frankly...horrible
Health is a right for the people not a privilage for the rich
VIVA CANADA!!!!
