So I got into my first car accident yesterday. Everyone is fine and it wasn't too bad, but my car got pretty messed up from it. Somebody stopped short in front of me in a 35 mph zone and there wasn't time for me to stop and I ended up slamming into the back of their car. Their car only had a scratches and my car looks like this:

Great way to start off the month.
Have any of you been in a car accident before?

Well, a bit like yours, I was in a car and my mum basically scraped the edge of it along something sharp because it was stupidly sticking out in the road, and we had this massive line across the side of the car and it looked just awful. No one got hurt...except our ears.

Glad your ok! Is it just cosmetic damage?
I've never personally crashed but have been in my sisters boyfriends car when he rolled it into a field, it's terrifying!

A couple years ago, yes, but I wasn't involved. It was winter and my dad and little brother were driving somewhere (had to do with swimming). The road was icy and the car basically crashed. Fortunately neither of them were hurt. The car was ruined though. It was a van. Then my mom went to pick them up...and the same fate met the smaller car. She wasn't hurt either...but now both cars were messed up. We had to get two whole new cars.

When I was about 5 we were driving and, because its Ireland, it was raining, and we had slowed down so as not to drench an older lady walking her dog, and a car plowed into the back of us doing about 45MPH. Cracked the chassis of our car, but all of us were fine.
Haven't been in a wreck since then, except for sliding into some curbs in snowy parking lots, however nothing that did any damage to the car.

Last November I was driving on the interstate and a semi came over and blindsided me. It sent me head on with guardrail and because of my lift kit the bumper went right over the the guardrail hit my wheels and flipped me end over end. Then I proceeded to roll down a 50 to 60 foot embankment into somebody's backyard. No one was hurt. I had a 23 day concussion and some memory loss.

Here's a daytime picture of it too. I have more if you ever want some.

Sorry about your car :(
I've been in a few none when I'm driving (mainly because I can't drive so I've never driven on a road with other cars haha) they've all been relatively small usually the cars been fixable only once did someone crash into the car and it had to be written off but no one was hurt.

Jake, holy shit! That's a huge crash!
I've never been in a proper car accident. I've been rearended a few times, at lower speeds, but thanks to my tow hitch I sustained zero damage (can't say the same for the other cars). And one time I kinda rolled into this minivan because I didnt stop enough, but she had a bikerack which hit my license plate and just bent it in a little. No damage there either.

Wow that looks serious. Glad that you're more or less fine, though! Sometimes when a crash looks that bad there are a lot worse injuries!

Sorry about what happened to your car and glad you're alright,
I got into an accident a few years ago. My mum and I were in the car and we were rear ended. Her car got totaled. We both have back problems to this day. Mine isn't as bad as hers was. She has some nerve damage, but it has gotten better.

Sorry to hear that you got in an accident, that's a sure way to ruin anyones day. I've been in two accidents. My first one was when my dad slammed into the back of a car at a stop light. My second accident was when I lost traction going around a corner. The car fishtailed and spun around 180 degrees, slid into the oncoming lane and went through a fence. The passenger side of the car slammed into two trees that stopped the car from going down a hill. Car was totaled but nobody was hurt. The sound of metal crumpling is something I'll never forget.

Never been in one, but I was on I-93 going into Boston once and there was light traffic. The car to our left, in the far left lane, had to slam on the brakes and then the car behind it hit. We were lucky to get out without a problem. I think the car behind the second one also collided. We could see the debris flying up from the collision. It was scary.

Sorry to hear your about the car and glad to here that everyone is fine! I've been on a school bus accident when the lady went through a red light and hit us from the side. I was in 4th grade and was sitting like right at the spot it happened. I helped calm the little kids.

the closest i've been to one is when my dad wasn't paying attention to the flow of traffic in front of him (it was a red light) on a expressway, and he slammed on the brakes. thankfully, we stopped in time, and the cars behind us didn't ram into us.

My first accident was just after christmas, was on a roundabout me in the outside lane going 2nd exit and a bus on inside lane and wanted to go first so he t boned me, i got out the astra van that i had built and make look great and had loads of work done to was rit off, i brought it back as a cat c and rebuilt it up and made it smart again, the bus driver got away with it because even though he was in the wrong a loop hole allowed him to do it costing me 1 grand to fix

My first accident was in a shitty red pick-up I had and I was driving school on a icy January morning the first day after Christmas vacations. I tried breaking at a red light and instead of hitting the car in my lane and pushing them into the crossing traffic in the intersection, I veered right into the right-turn lane trying to choose a snow bank instead. Unfortunately, my plan instead landed me in the read-end of my insurance agent's suburban. No one hurt. Not much damage. Just unfortunate. At least my insurance agent knew exactly what needed to be done. :P

Well I was pulling out of a gas station (I live in northern Michigan) so there's ice on the pavement, and I went to stop and my truck slid right into the main highway, and I got T-Boned on the drivers side by a small pickup. Thankfully everyone was okay their vehicle wasn't driveable. but I could drive my truck home (it's a fullsize blazer) I just need a new fender.
