Hello...

I grew up with a mother who is, by my regards, quite old-fashioned. I am in some ways as a result. We live "out in the country" and do not make that many trips to town. So in a way we are isolated at times.

As stated, my mother is old-fashioned and has always, and only, taken my temperature in my bottom when not feeling well. When younger this was not a big deal, but now older (I am fourteen this year) I find it rather embarrassing.

I've put up a fuss about it, but to no avail and I am not changing her mind. The only thing my retaliation on this has earned me, is now at times she is always spanking me (on the bare bottom), usually afterwards. It's like I went from embarrassing to worse! ugh!

I don't know if I am really looking for advice...just needed to vent and get it off my chest...I do feel better now! It is not something you can talk about to just anyone!!

Well..she is my mom...it's not like I can tell her "no". it is embarrasing at this age (the rectal thermometer), but wasn't so bad when younger. And no, this is not something I could talk about with my dad.

My mom has spanked me all my life for discipline...and I accept and OK with that. I am just not fond of being spanked right after having my temperature taken. I think it is embarrassing and an invasion of my privacy. If she wants to spank me I will accept it...just wish it was later.

But no, I do not find my age to be too old to be spanked...if I deserve, and I will admit here that I do.

She can and has...she is my mother.

You have to understand her to know where I am coming from...she believes in home remedies, and going to the doctor as a last resort (yes, we do go when necessary).

She still sees herself in the motherly role when I am not feeling well...I've ask to do it myself, and that was one of the questions that led to my spankings during this time.

you need to speak to her and tell her that your older now and a more appropriate form of discipline should be in order. try not to be rude. tell her how it makes you feel
