I find it so annoying when family members pry into your love life. The fact that they ask if I'm dating anyone doesn't bother me. It really doesn't make me uncomfortable to say no, but when they say 'oh, you should really be looking; you're getting older' and act as if something is wrong with me that I'm not actively looking for a relationship, that's what annoys me.
Anyone else deal with this or if you have something to comment then do so.

That seems really annoying! It sounds like they think your a shut-in or something.

Gah, you get it lucky!
Mum: "Are you going out with anybody?"
Me: "Uh no."
Mum: "Yeah you are you're going out with that Bethany girl."
Me: "Not at all."
Mum: "Yeah at all."

Agreed, it's so annoying when family thinks they have the right to pry into your personal life. >.< Pretty much the only thing you can do is be polite or ignore them. :/

Then it got onto whether im having sex with the girl, and whether im just making up the name and really going with someone else, and so on.
Oh my god that's terrible they would ask that.
On another note when I came online VT earlier my grandma told me not to go on any bad sites. I'm so glad my parents never treated me this way. Just seems to be the relatives.

Yep. I can't go anywhere unless I get questioned first. And my mega-catholic Italian family members really caree about religion... those .... bigots. And premarital sex and shit like that. Mostly I just sneak out.

my parents have never been like that with me, so i guess it is luck? if they need to know something, i let them know. said and done.
the only idea i can give out to anyone on this is just to tell them the truth and if they do not like it or do not appreciate it, just leave it. they are your parents and they are supposed to respect every decision they make.
this kind of went off subject, sorry.

My parents haven't said too much to me about relationships (probably because I haven't had one :( ) but they have said that "times have changed" and that I could start dating girls now if I wanted to (before they thought I should wait 'till I was 16; they weren't demanding that but they thought it would be best). Anyway tonight I told them about a girl that was pregnant (we know her from way back to like grade 2) and she's only 15. My mom kind of surprised me by saying that if I ever decided to have sex that I HAVE to use a condom. This REALLY surprised me because she is devoutly Christian, and doesn't believe in sex before marriage (my dad would probably cheer me on though, he's a little more laid back like that :D). This made me feel very happy that she cares this much; that she knows that kids will probably have sex some time or another and she wanted to make sure I was safe. That was pretty long for not much eh? Well even if I've only had these few brief talks, at least they've been positive ones :yeah:

its kind of the opposite for me. rather then hasseling me for not having a gf. they hassel me because i do have one by saying things like we look cute together.

I hate it sometimes, If my mum does find out I have a gf shes constantly bugging me like oh better have another shower put some clean clothes on etc. just annoying. Also what really drives me up the wall is recently ive put on a bit of weight and my mum is always like, you better loose it soon other wise your girlfriend will dump you.
Just wish she would stay out and let me learn from mistakes and figure stuff out for myself
