Have you ever had a teacher who inspired you or changed your life in some way? Or maybe they were just a really great teacher? If so, tell us about them. When did you have them? For what class? How did they have an impact on you and so on.

Mine would be 4th grade, Miss Husk. She was the gifted teacher for that grade and she had gone to school with my uncle, so she was familiar with my family. Well, at that time my grandmother had just been diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and was quickly dying (Most are dead within 5 years) and Miss Husk had breast cancer and had just finished her chemo treatments. So, she always had a special connection with me and was very nice to me and whatnot. I actually used to "forget" assignments so I could stay in during recess and work on them with her and this other boy who stayed in a lot. She made learning fun and I've never had a teacher who was so caring and fun with all her students (not just me.) She was an amazing woman. We even wrote to each other for a year or so after that year ended. I still have all the books and other presents she gave us as well.

Weird thing is, she died on September 11, 2009 and was buried in the cemetery right next to my grandmother who died August 11, 2007. Just a month and 2 years apart. Not only that, Their birthdays were October 24, 1926 and November 24, 1966. I am not making this up, it's crazy. But yeah, that's always been something very... weird for me. It gives me chills that their birthdays and death dates are so similar, and they're buried right next to each other. Two of the most influential women in my childhood.

So that's my story, sorry it's so long. Now tell me yours. :D

my grade 6 teacher was a big inspiration for me growing up in secondary school
he taught me to stand up for myself... never give up, and fight for what I wanted in life
then there was my grade 10 autobody teacher mr.moore
he was a big help for me... he taught me so much techniques and stuff and encouraged me to find my future career working with cars etc.
I will never forget him.
aside from other teachers who encouraged me to keep my head held high those are my top 2 teachers who I loved the most and who appreciated me as how I am
and even though I was weaker then others still encouraged me to stay strong :)

My assistant head, she helped me through coping with my uncles death, she was the mediator between my mother and myself through many an argument over my mental health and she was always there for me at every obstacle. I knew her for a year before she ever actually taught me but when she did she was also an excellent teacher giving up more than enough time for the class and forever helping us out. But yeah she helped me understand bereavement and myself and made me realise that I was normal and perfectly able to get better.

When I was in infants, Irish kindergarten basically, I had really bad behavioral issues. I had a sort of Special Needs Assistant, Kate. She just made me turn my life around. I felt that she believed in me, when everyone else didn't.

I had the most awesome teacher ever, in 10th grade. He was my English teacher. I liked him so much because he really cared about everybody in his classes, and didn't treat us like stereotypical teenagers, but actual people. He's one of those teachers that will give you a hug if you need one, and there aren't many teachers like that anymore because they're afraid of getting in trouble. He just doesn't care, he knows hes not being creepy haha. We also shared many of the same beliefs, he wasn't teaching to teach English. He was teaching because he wanted to make the world a better place. So if we didn't want to do English one day because we wanted to talk about some big world problem that's what we did.

Very unorthodox teaching style, I loved it. He also played Metallica and Kiss in class everyday and sang along, so A+ for that. (:

My Year 10 Chemistry Teacher made chemistry so interesting, and she always helped if she knew you were stuck.

My current Psychology Teacher (Ms S.) is literally the best teacher ever. She has the best fashion taste I have ever seen and she basically was the catalyst for my future, and fueled my love for psychology. She would always provide support when you would need it. Plus, she's one of the few gay teachers in our school, and proud of it.

My GCSE art teacher (current). She's really helped me, have to admit that with her I'm a bit of a teachers pet but I guess that's what happens when you need help to get an A*, y'know. She does art therapy with me since my year leader thought it'd be beneficial and it's a great distraction which is made even better by missing PE and having double art. She understands somewhat and she's the best teacher I could have asked for, especially for my favourite subject. I'm really grateful that she's there for me and it's going to be so hard to leave school next year.

My old english teacher from last semester and the current teacher I'm an assistant (TA) for, Miss Pomilia (who would also call herself Kat sometimes). Basically, when we were starting a project about a big moment in your life that left a big impression on yourself and your identity, I talked to her about my parents divorce. Not only did she encourage me to write about it, but she connected to me on a personal level. Her parents divorced when she was around my age, I believe. We talked a lot about how, as the child, we have these different feelings going on and how, quite bluntly, that it fucking sucks. She gave me a lot of support because writing about it was hard. Apparently she really liked it, because it was a C paper but would've been a B if I didn't turn it in 2 weeks after it was due..... :P

Since I was forced to either join another class or become a Teachers Assistant when I dropped Spanish 1, I naturally went to her. We still talk a lot about emotions and identity and shit, and I really like it. She's probably the nicest and down-to-earth English teacher I've had, always getting to know her students personally and always telling us funny stories in class. She's the one to give hugs when a student is down, feed them candy, and will always go out of her way to make sure people are happy, even the students she doesn't have directly. (Oh, and she has a couch in her classroom that she lets me nap on during Lunch if all my friends are off-campus :P)

I'm honestly going to miss her class, my new English teacher kinda annoys me. I hope to have her again soon, and she will always be a mentor for me.

Really there's one teacher I had who stands out, I had him in grade 7 for gym and math and he was my favourite teacher because he actually cared about his students and he would always joke around with us so he seemed like more of a friend than just a teacher. Thing is he was also in the military and had done two tours of duty before he started teaching and at the end of my grade 7 year he was being deployed again to afghanistan. I can remember exactly where I was the day I saw his picture on the news saying he'd been killed just after Christmas...no doubt the worst news I'd ever gotten in my life. I'l never forget him.

I think my favorite would be my second grade teacher (whose name I can't remember how to spell). We had weekly spelling tests until the end of fifth grade and my second grade teacher stood out because she gave us words that really challenged us. I really felt accomplished after getting the grades on those because the others were too easy for me.

I currently have a resource period with this teacher Mrs. Stone. If you don't know what a resource period is; it's basically a study hall where teachers help you and do the work with you. I'm in a Language program (Adapted Cirriculum English), so I am just assuming that's why I have this resource. I must admit I was sort of pissed about being in Mrs. Stone's class. Though, I later warmed up to her. I feel like she knows what I'm capable of in life. I'm a very negative person because I think I suck at every subject except math.

Biology, which is obviously my worst subject... Well, Mrs. Stone told me I'd have an A in that class if I was organized. (I told her before that it was because I was stupid.) I really don't know why, but that made my day, when she said that.

Next year, I've learned what I need to do to pass.

Oh, I also graduated from the Language program to a regular English class. I go in next year!
