I'm starting to get pretty annoyed with it now! I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate.. it's just come back from repair so it's a fresh install.
The problem is, MSN wont load. msnmsgr.exe is running in processes using about 4,200kb memory. If I try to open msn, it just opens more processes that use about 1,300kb memory each. I can't end the original process either. And if I disable MSN from the start-up, it just does the same again when I try and open it.
I've tried doing a system restore back to when Vista was installed, and it worked once, then it froze, that cause the whole computer to freeze and it wouldn't boot on the first attemt but booted again after that.
I'm just at a loss, I can't work it out!

I don't understand why the rest of the world doesn't use AIM. Its much better software. MSN is the only messenger I have problems with.

Well, AOL Instant Messenger. That A stands for american and everyone hates americans :P
But, yeah, AIM is a lot better, especially the newer versions. If your having multiple conversations on MSN it crowds up the things at the bottom, but AIM has one window with tab. Sweetness.

AOL=Assholes on-line :P
I love msn, I find AIM too basic.. and american! And you can have tabbed conversations in msn too :P

How do you? Because it annoys me crowding up the bottom screen.

You have to download that msn plus thing, although there's loads of cool stuff on there aswell. I don't mind lots of windows. I only like tabs on Avant. with tabs on IM's you can't immediately see who's just messaged you lol.

Thankyou very much.
As far as MSN VS. AIM, AIM still wins. I only got msn to talk to some people on here. Know one I know outside of the site has MSN Messenger.
EDIT: Downloaded and it didn't work :(
EDIT EDIT: Going through configuration...I got it to work :P

Cool!
Something I forgot to add.. MSN does work in safe mode leading me to belive it's conflicting with something. I've tried disabling everything from the start-up.. i'll try reinstalling some drivers to see if that helps... *sigh*

It may be basic but it works. MSN has too much useless junk installed on it.

Winks, nudges, and custom smilies.

1. Winks - I use them once every 3 years - Agree
2. Nudges - they rock! Nudgle fights xD They get people's attention anyway lol - Disagree
3. Custom Smilies are awesome! I must say the big flasing annoying ones that come up 10 times in every sentence are annoying.. but i love the little emotions cos they show how you feel much better! - Disagree

I hate it when people nudge me to get my attention. One time someone from here added me and nudged me if I didn't reply within 30 seconds. Got so annoying I blocked him.

Both AIM and MSN Clients Suck, A Lot.
I use AIM and GTalk Services, BUT, Not with the AIM and GTalk Clients.
This (http://www.pidgin.im/) is what I use. It's much better than all of those IM Programs. It doesn't have some of the "Fancy" Extra "Features" but it does what is needed, and works a lot better.

I'm not necessarily saying it doesn't work right most of the time. I'm saying, that if you don't need/want all those extra features, Pidgin (The one I linked to) Is a lot better.
1.) It's Open Source
2.) It uses Less Resources
3.) MSN is Quite a Bloated Piece of Software, Pidgin is not.
4.) Cross Platform
5.) It supports Multiple IM Protocols, so you can Have, Say, GTalk, MSN, AIM, YIM, Jabber, Etc all in one Client.
Pidgin just works a lot better as far as I'm concerned. I know many people who have Tried Pidgin, and haven't gone back to The Windows Live Messenger.

I like Windows Live. I don't use all the features, but it's still fine.

Because obviously the different IM Protocols are so much different, especially when you use Pidgin or something like that to Connect to them.
In that Case, it pretty much comes down to which IM Protocol is being used by the most people you know, and makes more sense for you to be using?
After using Pidgin and Trillian, I'll never use any of the IM Service Provided Clients (Such as the AIM Client, MSN Messenger, YIM, Etc) again.

Installed that for now, at least I can chat lol.
Well, today msn worked all of a sudded (I didn't even try opening it, it just appeared). But about 20 mins later it froze again. So I uninstalled it, deleted every file and registery key I could find, and it still doesn't work! :furious:

Well, I've got it all sorted now! It took me about 6 hours to go back to XP from Vista, was a fucking nightmare!
Now I'm back on XP, everything so much quicker, so much easier to use :D
