I'm thinking about running away to flordia and following my dream of being a professional surfer. I use to surf all the time when I lived in long island NY. Then we moved to Georgia. What should I do I am really thinking about it.

Well, it's a sweet dream to have but how would you be able to support yourself? I mean, have you thought about going there for the summer instead of permanently moving? There are options to consider.

Hmm, maybe you should consider saving up more because I've traveled before and I can tell you with confidence that $550 will be spent in no time. I know you're thinking about running away but why not try talking about it with your parents?

No. Not only will you regret it, but you will hurt everyone you know and worse; your parents.

I would wait until you can support yourself, because if you just go like that then where are you going to live? what are you going to eat? What's it gonna be about you? Think about it first then act :)

I don't think you get it. You're going to need enough money to live on until you find a job, and that'll be a lot more than $1000. You're also unlikely to make it very far before you're found and returned home.
Have you tried talking to your parents about your dream at all?

if you wanna be a professional surfer, florida is not the place to go. its extremly flat there. and overall its not a good idea.

I won't tell you to go or not but $550 will definitely not be enough on a field trip I had last year I had $250 and I just about blew that in 3 or 4 days. And that's with me not getting everything I wanted. So if I were you I'd save WAY more.

You need to reconsider this before you think about going forward with this. How will you support yourself? 550$ will let you survive a few weeks, maybe, max. Where are you going to live? Why do you want to leave so badly? Finish high school, maybe go to a college in Florida, and become a surfer possibly, but always have a backup plan in case things don't go your way.
Also, do you really want to cause the stress and pain of you missing on your parents? On top of that, you would most likely be caught very quickly by authorities, and be brought back home.
follow your dream :D
I'm sorry, but that is very idiotic to do in the current situation. Don't listen to him.

Cool, My family and I live on the island. Don't do that though, it's a really stupid move, even if you have 1,000 dollars saved. You will ruin your relationship with your family and friends. Plus, you will not be able to support yourself. You aren't even 18 years old yet. It's stupid, DON'T do it.

To be perfectly honest, I think this is a really stupid idea.
First off, as everyone else has said, how are you going to support yourself? $1,000 and no income is not going to last you at all. You need a place to stay, food, and more. Second, also as everyone's said, what about your family? They care about you and they would miss you terribly. You would ruin all/any relationships with them over something.
Talk to your parents about it. If they're not supportive of it, when you have the opportunity to, surf. When you're 18+, if you're still interested in being a professional surfer, when you can support yourself and you're an adult, then it's legitimate. But running away from home to do it? That's not really the smartest thing. Your parents would get you back likely anyways. They'd report you missing to police and such and when they found you, they'd return you.
I really hope you consider not doing this, as it would really be foolish to do. It's a legitimate dream to have, and an illegitimate way to go about it.

I'm pretty sure most pro surfers graduated from school. They could have done it homeschool, but dropping out of school is kinda stupid. Plus I don't think being a pro surfer can give you enough money to take care of yourself, especially at age 14. Maybe once you're out of school you can go to college or just move near a beach and then surf there and get a job at the beach, so you can maybe get noticed. But like most people said, I think it's kinda a stupid idea. You'll regret it.

$550 is nothing. When that runs out, how will you get more? Runnin away isn't a good idea at all. It's awesome to have a dream, but be smart when you follow your dream.

Whats going to happen say if you do run away and then in a years time you decide you done want to become a pro surfer. Finish school, have a back up option, your only 14 for Christ sake

I wouldn't suggest running away, the cops will find you and return you... If you don't like living with your parents you can try to get emancipated, which is where you become your own person and your parents are no longer legally responsible for you.
I highly suggest staying in school until you graduate high school, then choose a college in Florida, Eckerd College is a nice choice, it's right on the water and lots of kids surf at the beach down the road... And they have good academics... I don't suggest running away
