ACWORTH, Ga. (Nov. 19) - Three boys ages 8 and 9 were being held Monday in a detention center on charges of kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl in the woods near a suburban apartment complex, officials said.

The alleged attack happened Thursday and the girl's mother reported it to authorities Sunday, Acworth police Capt. Wayne Dennard said.

"The juvenile victim stated that an 8-year-old boy and two 9-year-old boys that she had been playing with earlier pulled her into a wooded area, where one of the boys raped her," Dennard said.

The three boys were charged with rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment and sexual assault, Dennard told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Their names were being withheld because of their age.

Prosecutors have not decided whether to try the suspects as adults.

"That decision hasn't been made," said Kathy Watkins, a spokeswoman for the Cobb County District Attorney's office. She had no further comment.

Calls to the Acworth Police Department were not returned Monday morning.

Acworth is 30 miles northwest of Atlanta in the city's fast-growing outer suburbs.

Sadly, this is not the first case of pre-teen rapists.

It really makes you wonder what is it that happened to them to make them able to do this at such a young age.

Ahaha that had me laughin' for awhile. Same with me, i thought sex was just a thing that took a minute and you didnt have to do anything.

eh i know they could definitely be capable of sexual assault. but i'm a bit skeptical of "rape". if rape did occur the boy(s) probably learned how to by experiencing it themselves or from watching parents :/

Every child is born with the basic sense of right and wrong, which is then enforced by parents, friends, media, school ... the boys knew what they did is wrong, yet they made a concious decision to do it anyway.
I don't believe the boys should be tried as adults, but on the same note, they do deserve a fitting punishment, not just a slap on the wrist and being told "Naughty, don't do that again."
I say try them as minors, but at least they should recieve six years in a juvenile detention facility. That way they get a decent punishment, but by the time they get out they'll still be in their teens and still have a shot at doing something worthwhile with their lives.
I just feel really sorry for that girl, because that experience will be with her for the rest of her life. She'll always remember that her first sexual experience was rape, and how painful and damaging it was.

I partially agree, but someone like that would only learn new tricks in juvie

A mental hospital seems more suiting.. A hospital without group sessions or contact with other sickos

Well there was a case here in Ohio where a 10 year old raped an 8 year old nad his parents knew about it and they didn't report it to police or anything.

Apparently he also tried to rape his friend when they were both alone together.

It was ver very disturbing.

but that is just awful. I mean the girl was 11 she should have easily been able to escape unless they had everything figured out

:O

That's pretty disturbing. I wouldn't be surprised if their preference of music and or slash what kind of media they have been exposed to influenced their decisions. Honestly, what do you expect when you have lyrics that say, "Where do you want it Monicia, Monique...?"

Blah. I remember when I heard that song on the radio, I was like, "What the hell kind of music is this?!" I later discovered that it was rap.

Of course! That's what I say all the time! That's what's making them do it!

No offense if you like rap or anything but it's just a matter of little kids listening to rap lyrics.

Everyday I walk around this neighborhood ait's a fine neighborhood and all but I hear 2 year olds singing "Ay Bay Bay" with their mothers in front of them and they say nothing.

It gets to far out of hand here. We had a 6 year old shoot his own brother who was 15 over the computer.

His brother was dead the moment the gun fired. The six year old said "I had to do it he was dissin' my computer!"

Just awful what these parents let there kids do!

Can you just for one moment and talk to your kids and tell them the dangers of what can really happen and what they should do if that were to happen to them?

This is horribly tragic and it will severely mess up that little girl for a very long time
and the future of these very young boys....
allot of damage all around
What i wonder is what exactly happened to the boys traditionally speaking
something like this would be a HUGE red flag that AT LEAST one of them has been molested

And where exactly were the parents? teachers? police? neighborhood watch?

The devalueation and degeneration of human society is shown in it's entireity by such cases as this.
