View Full Version : Karma, believe or not to believe, that is the question!

As some of us probably knows, karma means in brief that if you do something, expect it to come back towards you. Like, if you kick someone on purpose, expect your leg to hurt afterwards, something along those lines.
I don't believe in karma, whatsoever. It's merely a coincidence that your leg can hurt after you kicked someone. BUT if you did kick someone, and they kicked you back, then that means the person who kicks back, wants revenge. Revenge isn't a good thing, neither is kicking someone for the sake of kicking.
Here's something that did happen, now tell me, is it considered karma or revenge:
Girl A was writing some notes in her notebook, Girl B took away the pen, and Girl A asked for it back, of course Girl B didn't listen, and threw it on Girl C's desk. Girl C was looking at the pen [at least that's what she said....], and then Girl A asked politely for her pen back. Girl C ignored Girl A and continued looking/holding the pen. Girl A got quite upset, and yelled "Give back my pen, right now!", Girl C and Girl B started to laugh. Girl A said that she was going to tell the principal for not returning the pen, and for being rude. Girl C then said, well if you tell the principal, I will tell your dad what you've been doing stuff that you shouldn't be doing, it's called karma. You do something "bad" to me, then I will do something "bad" to you.
After reading the above scenario, who's right? who's wrong? Is it revenge, karma, coincidence? What are your views.

I say Its just coincidence. Every action has a reaction, so expect to be kicked if you kick. Its pretty simple:D

I want to believe in karma, and if thats the debate, I kind of do believe in it (although I've seen evidence that its real, and evidence that its not real, so I'm really undecided..).. But I think you have the idea of karma all wrong... Yes, the main idea is if you do something bad, something bad will happen to you, and if you do something good, something good will happen to you... But kicking someone and then having your leg hurt isn't necessarily karma... I mean, if karma is real, stealing from someone won't necessarily lead to you being stolen from, although, something bad that has nothing to do with stealing may still occur.. Anyways, I really don't think your situation has anything to do with karma, and telling the principal wouldn't be considered a bad thing, and if they tell your dad something bad, well, it wouldn't be the actually conversation between girl c/b with your dad that would cause something bad to happen to you, it would have probably already occurred, if what you were doing was "bad"... Yeah... I've confused myself... But still, you seem to have less of a grasp on karma than I do..

Karma isn't one girl getting revenge on the other through threats, it's the universe balancing itself. Sorry to tell you, but your post isn't karma, it's just teenagers.

I honestly CAN'T believe in karma or anything like it in the world we live in today. Take a look at the things that happen. People steal and are never ever caught. A good person will help a stranger in need and will get something stolen from them later in the day (look at the earlier sentence). Honestly I need more proof of it happening, otherwise rare things that may seem to be karma are just a coincidence or natural reaction to me.

I don't believe that it was karma either, it was revenge. Girl C was taking revenge.

Referring to TCG, yeah, as I said, I want to believe in karma, but I really can't.. I wish it was real, but we lack any proof of its existence, and although people have created strong arguments for it, the evidence points more towards it not existing, than towards it existing... The world would be a much better place if it truly existed... :/

I see the scenario as revenge rather than karma
I just see karma as a fact of life that if you do bad things it will catch up to you later on in life. I don't see it as magical or spiritual, but that the cause of the karma will be at the direct result of your own actions and no divine or mother nature intervention or anything like that.
Like an example, if I go to a store and steal something and it becomes a regular thing, one day I get careless and pocket it right in front of the camera that I usually remember to avoid, and I get caught, I see that as karma. It happened from my own actions and stealing finally caught up with me.

I agree with Ant. I don't think it's some heavenly force, it's just life. It's your own doing that gets you in trouble, not some other "power".

Karma I don't so much believe in, but I do strongly believe everything happens for a reason.

I believe in karma
Do onto others as they do onto you
Treat them as you wish to be treated

This is exactly right. The unfortunate thing is that people who do wrong things do not always get caught, like TCG
