Passenger. Try "Holes"
You kidding? Passenger isn't under-recognised. He just toured with Ed Sheeran and they're making music together now. He has a massive fanbase xD Can't say I've heard of any of the others though.

Blue Oyster Cult
Radio stations seem to have condensed their discography down to Don't Fear the Reaper and Burning For You when they have so much more to offer.
Hedgehog
They're better known in China, but I think their horizons should be expanded
Cygnus

The Silent Comedy
They became more popular after a Dark Souls trailer was released with a song of theirs.

Not exactly underground, he has a big fan base, but he doesn't get nearrrrly the recognition he deserves. Atmosphere. Amazing rapper, but like, one person I know has heard of him.

PinkFloyd

I think Pink Floyd should be more recognized in my area. I mean sure, go to like NYC, LA, or Chicago, and it's more recognized, but go to like Minneapolis or Green Bay and mention David Gilmour... nobody knows what the fuck you're talking about!

Maybe carly rae jepson
PinkFloyd

Considering the fact that Pink Floyd is one of the biggest selling band of all time and is consistently named one of the greatest and most innovative...I think it is hard to say that they need to be more recognized.
I know that. I'm saying that there are like maybe 2 other fans of them that I know in my area. WHen I was in LA, I saw a lot of people with Dark SIde of the Moon t-shirts.
Ryhanna

The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears...
Kidding. ;) Kerli could do with a little more recognition. She's a pretty talented artist. Her first album was a brilliant pop-goth record. She's on her second album now, which from what I've heard is suited more to radio.. so maybe she'll manage to break through to the mainstream.

The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears...
I think all of those are very recognized. :P

Try Thomas Dolby. He was successful in the 80s and known to be 'electro-pop pioneer' by some, but even some of his later stuff and his recent album are brilliant and no one has heard of them. Try 'Oceanea' or 'Pulp Culture' (He has an alternative style just so ya know!)

Alt-j aren't under recognised at all. They were nominated for best album at the brit awards this year and I think they won it.
Olly Murs, Ellie Goulding, Jason Mraz, Florence + the Machine are all recognised here in the uk.
But i agree about marina and the diamonds though

I love Emilie! To be honest though, I like her better with the small fabase she has now. If she became really big, she'd just end up with a bunch of fake plague rats who probably wouldn't even know what a plague rat is.
Anyways, I'm listening to a band right now. They're Now, Now. I love them so much. I've gone days listening to nothing else but their music.

I may be 9001% wrong. But if I am, it's because I don't even bother to turn on the radio anymore. And my social life is nonexistant. :)

I guess so. But it's not like most of those people are real fans because they like 1 or 2 songs.

I know some of those names (alt-J, Radical Face, etc.) but the others I definitely have not seen before. More new music for me :)
I can't really think straight right now but I'm gonna say:
Cloud Control
Os Mutantes
The Head and the Heart
Tame Impala (yeah okay, they're a little popular)
Sigur Ros (in America)
Grimes
I might've giggled a little bit at the suggestions of Macklemore, Imagine Dragons, Lana Del Rey, and Pink Floyd(?!?!?!).
