View Full Version : Boring facebook conversation
Wonder.

This guy messaged me on facebook (who I may or may not kinda like) and we had this short, boring, awkward conversation. It was basically dead when it started. So, me, being terrible at conversations in general, just logged off to put the chat to it's much needed end. It was like, five minutes after the last message. Only now is it starting to click that that probably wasn't a good idea. :P
So my question is: If he happens to bring up the fact that the conversation ended really abruptly, what am I supposed to say? It's late here so I was thinking I could say I fell asleep or something. I've also thought of saying my dad came home so I had to go because he doesn't like me being up or something like that. While it is true, it's still quite lame.
My second question is: How do I correctly end a boring conversation? Or, how can I avoid boring conversations?
Thanks in advance. :)

Me being horribly blunt and honest sometimes- if a conversation grows dull I will seriously be like
"Alright, you're boring me. Either step up your game or step down mofo" I've told that to all my friends really. I wouldn't suggest that, but I would say maybe "Oh I gotta go, it's shoppin time!" and basically lie about going to the store or something, log out, and just disappear from the boring convo .3. woosh~

This is off of topic a little, but what makes the conversation boring? Perhaps the reason the conversation is boring is because of YOU! You admitted/stated that you sucked at caring on conversation. Remember it takes two people(or more) to caring on a conversation and therefore all parties that are involved in the conversation are responsible for making it interesting.
I would just say that you got interrupted or maybe the dad idea that you proposed.

While what you said is true, it was just one of those weird conversations that everyone has sometimes where you don't know what to say and it's obvious that the other person doesn't know what to say.
I probably will use the dad excuse. It is almost true, actually. He doesn't ever make me get off the computer though. So, true statement basically.

Yeah, if he brings it up, just say your dad made you get off the computer.
Also, to end boring conversations, just same something like "gotta go now, see ya" or "my mom/dad needs me, bye". At least, that what I do :P

When I get someone who I don't want to talk to for various reasons. I make up an excuse or say I need to do something. Simply saying (when its late at night) I'm going to bed works easily enough. Or during the day say you've been called on by a parent or sibling to sort something out. While they're not outstanding reasons to go, they are believable.
To avoid boring conversations if you have a subject or hobby or support a team then you can discuss all this with him or even day to day life. It also depends how close you guys are as well.

If you are bored with the person just stop talking to them, that's what i do and nobody complains
