I want to ask somebody out. And as I have never had a girlfriend before, I would like to know the best way to inform my parents. I really need help here.

Tell them after the first date, if it goes badly - no problem - it it's promising tell them you went out with a really sweet girl and will be again

"Mom Dad I asked a girl out on a date."

I'd tell em beforehand, saves a lot of awkwardness.
