When the cuts have all taken affect, the sequester will be over.

Why would we want it to end? The government spends too much as it is. We need to stop spending somehow. I agree that some of the cuts in sequester aren't well thought out, but we need to cut something so at least this accomplishes it. Now if we could cut another $920 billion we could balance the budget.

Although this wasn't a debate, if the government cut to much money it would have a horrible effect on the economy and millions would be out of jobs.

If we cut spending it will hurt the economy. If we raise taxes, it will hurt the economy. If we do a combination of both, it will hurt the economy. If we do nothing, the country goes bankrupt. Americans as a whole (republicans and democrats) are equally to blame for this.
We have created a colossal shit sandwich and unfortunately everyone will have to take a bite to fix it. And the sooner we do that, the better off we'll be and the sooner the problem will get fixed. If we continue to punt the problem into the future, the worse it gets and the more difficult it will be to recover from.
I for one would rather bite the bullet and make serious changes today and actually address the problem head on rather than tinker around the edges and not really accomplish anything.
Realistically we need to seriously cut spending on EVERYTHING, raise taxes on EVERYONE, make cuts to medicare/medicaid and social security, and raise the retirement age. Sadly nobody has the balls to do any of this.

Social Security can't be cut, it's over-inflated, and way to many elderly folk depend on it. We're having troubled paying for it as it is. Now, what can happen is making everyone who hasn't had a paycheck yet, not be eligible for Social Security. That's the problem with Medicare/Medicaid too, it's overinflated, and will not only be really bad for the economy, but deadly. Where we can cut though is spending on illegal immigrants and giving them tax cuts, health care, and all those benefits.

Only when those in government, both legislative and executive, stop playing politics with our budget will it get any better. What we truly need to concentrate on is paying down the debt. Our grandchildren are still gonna be paying the interest on it, and it will eventually bankrupt our nation.

cutting spending will not hurt the economy if you cut spending in the right places. the government is spending over 3 million dollars to study why lesbians are fat so if we cut that it would help. we should also cut stuff like studying a shrimp on a treadmil

Never because they want to cut the budget but nobody wants to vote for it so they put the sequester in so that they can each blame the other side but they both get what they want.
