Okay so today I got some forms in the post for me to fill out.
They're for university.
I am wanting to get onto a Nursing (mental health) course and have recieved conditional offers.
One of the forms was a health check questionnaire, ticky boxes etc. It asked for my doctors information too so obviously everything must be correct.
I'm wanting to know people's honest opinions and if people actually do know whether or not they're asking me things because it could affect me getting onto this course.
This is basically everything; all I've been working towards for ages.

To cut a long story short.
It asked have I had previous mental health issues/treatment - and whether these were in the last 2 years.
There has been things in the last 2 years but not as bad as further in the past, just depression that I coped with.
However, I've had other diagnoses in the past, been on medication and also a number of suicide attempts. I can't lie I understand they'll have to clarify everything with my main GP so don't suggest silly things like just don't write on it. It says any undisclosed things can delay and even result in withdrawl from the application process soooo...
Will this stop me getting a place? Should I not even bother?
Thanks all.

Definitely fill in as much information as you can and be honest. If they find that your previous mental health issues are not a problem, they will probably accept you.

I don't think so! I know you think it might hold you back, but it really could help in a way, like you have experience of why it sucks so you have a little compassion. You never know.

Fill it out honestly, don't go overboard, just answer the questions, if you can (I assumed you can), put that you're recovered from those issues, if not say that you're in treatment even if you're not, but then you have to get some sort of regular counseling.

But yeah, just answer honestly, lying is going to get you in more shit with a school than mental illness. Always try!

There is no indication that this will hold you back, lots of people who work in mental health and/or psychology have a background with experience of it themselves. My psychology teacher (with full psychologist-level education) has OCD and PTSD.

Full disclosure is mandatory. I don't think they can discriminate because of past issues, and real-life experience is also very important in the medical field. I would be honest.
