I started taking AP Music Theory this year and I love it. Anybody else taking it or just have a wide knowledge of Music Theory. And if you do, do you find yourself analyzing everything? (Every song I listen to, I end up analyzing it. Even if it's just the chord progression). There are times when Im listening to songs and I'm like "that's a half cadence!" lmao I'm such a music nerd

I never took the class, but I was in marching band, so we did a lot of theory work during concert season. My brother and I will have arguments every now and then over what time signature or key signature something is in. I can pick out a march anywhere, I'm great with rhythms, and I know basically every tempo/style term there is to know.

I've taken piano lessons for 5 years (in 6th yeear), violin for 2 (in 3rd yr), and have been teaching myself guitar for about a month. Needless to say, I have to study lots of theory. Still need to work on recognition by ear, but I know a good bit. We're learning about intervals and their qualities and popular examples of each.

took it last year. I can't say I can analyse any song but I know what you mean. Really helped me improve playing the guitar and songwriting.
