How important do you think first aid is? Do you know any and have you ever been in a situation where it was needed?

I guess it's kind of important, I'd be to scared incase I made things worse though, so I don't know any and don't plan on learning.

I have Paramedic training, when I turn 18 I'm going to take the exam just for the hell of it. I work in hospital triage, where we see little kids come in with cuts to people being brought by helicopter for gunshot wounds. I think first aid is VERY important, everyone should have some sort of basic knowledge (Eg. how to apply a tourniquet, CPR, how to use a AED) because it really saves lives.

It's really important. I've got some training from taking martial arts and I've had to use it a few times.

Everyone should know first aid. I'm
a Boy Scout, so I obviously think this, but it saves lives. If you don't know first aid, let's say CPR, and someone in front of you just collapses and can't breathe. How bad would you feel knowing you could've done something if you knew first aid?

I believe it's important, but I've never been in a situation where I needed to use, or even watch someone else do it.

In the UK, 140000 people die each year in situations where first aid could have made the difference between life and death. I'm in with the Very Important group and I have formal first aid training and am an active first aider at events in the UK. If you just take a course, and end up in a situation where first aid is needed, you will need the motivation to help but whatever you can do, even if it's ask someone else for help or to call an ambulance, it can save lives.

I've been in situations when I was a kid and didn't know first aid which would of helped
It's very important once you get older especially, as you have more responsibilities and if a family member falls ill etc. you might have to look after them

Very important even though I haven't been faced with such a situation. I should probably start learning, especially if something happens to ....my mom

I think it's pretty important. I think they should teach the basics in either Home Ec or Physical Education. Things like what to do with cuts, shallow and deep, 1st - 2nd degree burns, sprains, broken bones, what to do if someone collapses, basic CPR, what to do if someone has a seizure, things that could happen to literally anyone and most probably will if they haven't already. Anything more serious can be taken care of my doctors or at hospital if it's an emergency but I think kids knowing to put pressure on a gash to stop bleeding and to not move a person if they've hurt their back, sort of things are important.

First Aid is extremely important; It saves thousands of people. It also stops pain, which is fairly good to point out as well.

The person who taught me CPR, a teacher who runs DOFE at my school preformed CPR for two hours on a 80 year old man at a golf course. It's important

I believe it is very important. You never know when you're going to need it. In the case that you need it and you don't know how to because you're not trained, well then...I hope you have a nice time trying to figure it out?
