hey there,

I done my work experience at school at a well know theme park in the UK and they've asked me back for summer, and I'm wondering if anyone would work at a theme park as a full time career or just a summer job?

Personally I couldn't, whining kids vomiting and screaming running all over the place is my idea of hell! I'd end up drop kicking a 7 year old. I'm sure people that enjoy rollercoaster and what not could though.

The work and environment is definitely for me.

The heat all day kind of kills it, though.

Hell yes I would. It's actually something I've always wanted to do, but where I live, there are no theme parks. I wouldn't, as you say, use it as a full time career, it would be temporary, but not just over a summer.

Depends if it's Disney and I'm playing in one of their ensembles, I would LOVE to do it.

My band director was a musician there and I would live to go there and play for people everyday.

if I lived closer to a theme park I'd do it for a summer job.

thanks everyone for the comments, please continue with them!!!

The nearest theme park to me, which is the one that has asked me back this summer, is an hour drive away but I think its worth it or i might stay in some sort of accommodation there if they have it

Probably not. If it involves a lot of talking, it's definitely not for me. Also, I would hate to work in the heat.

Sounds like fun! I'd work there full time if I was old enough.

Thank fully in the UK you can work in theme parks from 16 doing every role like rides, hopefully I'll be on rides in the summer

The talking thing is an issue, but in england it dont get too hot so its quite nice to work outside

I probably wouldn't. It would just be too hot, standing outside all day, and having to deal with all the parents and kids would probably be annoying.

The main issue I had on work experience was kids that was too small thinking they was tall enough to go on and having to tell them they cant ride. Loads of kids strop over it but you have to do your job and keep people safe!

The parents were ok about their kids when there was a height problem. The other issue I had was teens thinking that they could do whatever they wanted like climbing on fences but after talking to them they was fine :)

Probably just as a summer job or something part time to earn a little income.

So I've been to a couple of interviews now at some theme parks and now I must wait to find out if I've got a summer job or not

If the pay's good, which I doubt, it might be a fun job. Who knows, you could eventually become the owner. Great, now I want to play Rollercoaster Tycoon.

It depends on the specific position, but I probably would. It would be more fun than my current job.

I might, but if I did, I probably wouldn't do it for more than 2 years; I imagine it would get boring after a while.

The nearest theme park, is actually like 15 min away from me. Six flags new england. Most, and i do mean most, most of my friends work there. From what they tell me, they get treated like crap. However, being one of the few places around that hires teens, and is always in high demand for employees over the summer, some kids have no other choice but to suck it up.

SO... no, no i would not work at a theme park. but thats just me.

I don't want to be stuck in the heat with a whole bunch of crazy people lol

For a summer job, yes. I wouldn't as a career or anything, its not what I want to do and having people running around screaming, I'd hate it.

I personally wouldn't do it because it's not my sort of thing. However having said that I know a lot of people who do summer jobs at Thorpe Park and they love it there doing summer jobs I think a couple even stayed as full time for a few years. My advice is that if you enjoy doing it and you're happy then who the heck cares, I'd rather be doing a job that I love and isn't a drag than a job that I feel as though I wanna die.

I'd love to travel the world at some point and take on jobs like Disney lifeguard at Orlando or other jobs like that.

I would because I'm one of those that don't really mind heat or cold once I get used to it. My friend tried working there and quit the first few days because it was too hot to work there

As a summer job or temporary career. A job is a job and money is money. I need money to survive and if a job at a theme park would get me that, then I would take it!

Slippers

Definitely if you'd like to work there. If it's the kind of job you're good at and the career you'd like to venture into then go for it!

I wouldn't do it full time, but for a Summer job it wouldn't be bad. I enjoy theme park rides and for some reason, while I'm shy around people at my school or people I see everyday, I'm perfectly fine talking with random strangers. The heat might not be so fun, but I could probably tough it out. :)

Yes, for a Summer job, especially a first one it'd be very good. Out in the sun all day and interacting with people. It could be an alright long term job also, depending on your position and responsibilities.

I'd possibly do it during the summer for a month or two just to get the experience, but I couldn't do it much longer than that. It's not that I don't like theme parks, but I think it's just a job that would get really old, really fast for me.

I know a few people that work at the huge one we have around here that's the size of like a Six Flags, and they all hate it because they get overworked. I'm going to stick with no.

I would not work at an Amusement Park because currently my step-sister works at one but they do not treat her right. She goes to work at 8 AM and gets home by like 2 AM. She's a manager at the candy shop there and she also has other responsibilities but she doesn't get enough money for it and she gets home too late. I hate seeing her working so hard :(
