Well, it's not that new, since it happened in 2009, but I think it is worth bringing up.

NASA scientists found that blasting pyrimidine (a naturally occuring molecule) ices with ultraviolet rays at extremely low temperatures can cause the atoms to rebond as RNA nucleotides, more specifically, uracil. They hypothesize that this process helped to form the first building blocks of life in the universe.

that's interesting
it only adds to a whole mix of other theories. life probably came from many sources.

That's interesting. And it only adds to the odds of other life being out there. It seems that, for as big as the universe is known to be, this could be something that happens commonly on it's own. Although like Human said, it probably isn't the only thing that lead to life being formed. Just one of many.

edit--- Just think about how mind blowing it is that scientists turned inanimate matter into life. Crazy...

Not quite. All they created was a nucleotide. They haven't quite gotten to creating true life yet, but this is certainly a step closer.
