Incest

This isn't a sexual or anything thread. This is just to debate whether incest is that bad or not. I'd never do it but to have 7 Billion People, humanity needed a lot of incest. So why today do we as people see it as a wrong or bad thing to do?

Medically, if a child is conceived and birthed from incest with a close relative, because the genetics are so similar (don't ask me why or how, I don't know), it has super high risks of DNA mutations that results in diseases/disorders/defects. So medically, it's a no-no for the baby's sake.

Morally, I think it is seen as bad because most people won't look at their brother, or their Mum and think "wow, you're hot, I want to fuck you" because that's just not how we feel about our family, y'know? Most people just could never consider having sex with a close relative because it's just the whole "but that's my BROTHER" mentality, y'know? While being raised and taught my our parents, schools, media, we never hear that having sex with a family member is okay, so I'm not saying without that we'd be fucking each other silly without it, but it definitely contributes to the stigma. I guess I compare it a bit like being gay in a way, you kind of always just are gay, like the same way you're kind of just attracted to your cousin, it's not something you can control (to an extent) and it's not very common, but being gay is being more and more accepted because we're told it's okay, while incest is still hiding in the shadows and looked down upon. (Don't think that incest is a sexuality, homosexuality is just all I could think of to compare it to).

We never really needed a lot of incest. It was certainly present, but I don't think that it really caused too much of an increase in population numbers. That aside, I think incest is perfectly acceptable. As long as it's not done with the attempt to procreate, and even then only for the complications it causes for the potential offspring, I think that it's the same as sex. Two humans wanting to have a good time. Except they may be a bit more comfortable/familiar with each other than most humans.

I think that incest is not OK, even if it is done just for fun, I think that being a sex buddy with your brother/sister/cousin/parent/other relative is not good, since it sorta ruins the family values, you will not look at that relative the same way after you have sex with him/her, people will get strange ideas, and shit will happen. Incest was common for sure in Western-European monarchies (there are facts confirming it, although I do not know about other monarchies). Carlo the VIII, king of Spain in the XVII century (I think) was born through incest by cousins. He was so deformed, he could not speak untill je was 8 since his tongue was too big, he could barely walk while he was 3. He was mentally retarded, he could not rule by himself, he had dozens of advisors. Strangely, the kingdom did not fall apart during his life, but after his death, his family members waged wars, since he had no heir.

But I definitely don't think it should be banned, if a man and a man can marry and be together, or a woman and a woman, then why can't there be incest? Homosexuality was looked down upon in the 20-50s, but now its not. Lets give the same rights to those who believe in/do incest. We can't just say to one group, alright, if you love each other you can get married and have kids (heterosexual/homosexual couples) yet blatantly tell another group (incest) you cannot get married and have kids.

It's all about fairness. Homosexuals are working on getting fairness with marriage, and are currently winning the battle, so the same should go with people of incest. Although I believe that incest is very wrong, because of the medical problems associated with the children of incest.

Personally it disgusts me, although if people are happy doing it then who am I to stop them. I don't think they should be allowed kids, with the risks of having a defect in the lid I don't think its fair.

I don't like it but I don't think there's particularly anything wrong other than what we personally think as a culture...
It's generally a myth that incest causes mutations etc. and these only become apparent after years of inbreeding generations
humans were once reduced to 15,000 population so there would of been lots of inbreeding at one point
