Hi girls just wondering if you still have your hymen or not. if not, did it break masturbating, during sex or from doing something else?
mine broke when i was like 10 from horseback riding. i remember cuz i freaked when i saw a bit of blood in my panties and cried to my mom lol.

Mine is still there. I'm sure of it even though I can't get my finger inside very far. I know it's possible to break it by accident but I've been lucky so far.

I lost mine in a fight.

It's a kind of a "layer" in every virgin's vagina, that goes when you have sex for the first time. Or when you get a good blow in the crotch. xD
No need to feel stupid. Can't know everything. :)

I broke mine masturbating. I was just fingering and then I felt a bit of pain. I only bleed just a tiny bit.

You don't break your hymen. It doesn't actually completely seal you up down there either. If it did, you wouldn't have periods. What happens is it stretches, or if it's done to fast or roughly, it can tear. You bleed if it tears.

I can't pin point the exact time i lost mine but i'm fairly certain it was from repeated masturbation. Just like any other part of your body Like eyes, noses and breasts, everyone is a little different down there and this is certainly true of the hymen. What actually happens when the hymen is "broken," whether by playing or by intercourse, is that a few areas of the hymen are torn and this can be just a partial tear. Eventually the hymen more or less erodes away and for some there is bleeding with the intial tearing. It's very rare for a girl past the age of 15 to have a completely intact hymen even if she has never masturbated or used tampons because as you get older the hymn becomes very thin and is easily torn by everyday activities.

Me too! I think it was about 9 tho. Gymnastics is great for being flexible, so I have some really good talents cos of it;)

How do you know that your hymen is still intact? How do you know it is broken? Can you see your hymen? What is it supposed to look like? What does it feel like when he first enters you? Can you hear it pop? Do you bleed? I am so worried that my first time will hurt a lot since I am so small.

Your hymen does not break. It's a membrane that stretches with penetration to accomodate. When it stretches too far, it can tear, and that's when you experience bleeding. Inserting an object will not prevent pain when having sex later in life because it's not a one time deal. Your hymen never disappears or leaves or anything. Try watching this:

So it never goes away for good? Hmm. So not so painful after all?

No, it never goes away for good, and while I've never had sex and the only type of stretch I've ever experienced is from a tampon, it's probably not as painful as it's depicted to be. Personally, using a tampon caused no discomfort whatsoever. I wouldn't be too concerned. Still, though, don't rush into it expecting no discomfort at all. Better safe than sorry.

IF it never goes away it could possibly always hurt then? I guess going slow is the best option. I am sure you can also look and see if it has been stretched.

I don't know how to identify it visually. I don't think it would hurt every time, but that would be different for every girl; it depends on how often you stretch your hymen, the guy you're with, etc. It would depend on a variety of factors.
I believe after giving birth, it wouldn't be as painful any more, since you can't really stretch your hymen any more than that, but I'd have to research it.

I probably broke/tore it a long time ago, but I really have no idea.
It was probably from horseback riding, as we own horses and I ride at least 3-4 times per week. If not, it could have been from biking, because I bike to school in the fall and spring, when the weather is nice. It could have also been from volleyball, soccer or dance.
How do you check to see if it's torn?

How would you know if you actually broke your hymen by accident? Do you feel it tear? How would you know or tell if it is really broken?
