So I'm in grade 9, and next year, I'm probably gonna take a class with students who are all a year older than me, so I have more room for courses in grade 11. Have any of you guys done something like this before? I'm asking because I'm kinda nervous about it, and I'm not sure what it'll be like.

I did it in 10th grade for... 2? classes I think. I feel like there was 3, but I can only think of two, geometry and biology. There were a lot of seniors in those classes, but I wasn't the only sophomore or anything. Then when I took chemistry in 11th grade there were a lot of seniors in my class. Similarly, I've taken math classes that had quite a few underclassmen in them too. All of the science classes at my school were pretty mixed up grade-wise except physics (because you had to take 3 other classes to get in, so could only take it as a senior.) It's really not that big a deal. The only bad part would be if you didn't know any one in that grade and were the only sophomore in the class, because it might be a tad lonely. That and you might have to sit through teachers lecturing you about college :P

My AP Psych class this year is full of seniors, so is my AP Spanish class.
If you don't know anyone in that grade, it'll be a bit awkward (fortunately I did), but if you know some people, you'll be okay.

I have never been put up a grade in any class, but this year and last year I had lower grade students in my classes and NO ONE, I repeat, NO ONE, thinks differently of you. No one bats an eyelid, no one really cares, you're just another student in the class.

There are no real difference in actual courses either, it'll be like any other class.

The only real differences will be the students, but I'm sure you can navigate that one. :)

All through high school, I took classes with a local college. I was in class with people 3-4 years older than me. If you are going to take a class that's above your grade, make sure you seem worthy of it. I'm not saying to be a teacher's pet, but don't ask stupid questions, don't act like you're as young as you are. By the time I got to being a senior in high school, the other college students had know idea I was a high schooler. That's your objective. Blend in. Do well. Don't do things that make it obvious you're there under different circumstance than everyone else.

As for the difficulty, if a teacher is going to allow you to take courses that are above your level, they'll probably be willing to give you a bit extra help if you absolutely need it. Don't worry too much about the actual coursework because when it all boils down, it's just another class.

Good luck!

Now I take classes with older grades since it's college. I've taken a few in high school, but not every class then was for more than one grade.

It's not scary. When I was in ninth grade I had my first class with an upper-classman, and he's my very best friend to this day. I've made friends with a ton of people that I would have never met if not for class.

It's not scary at all, I am a sophomore in a junior math class. If anything people think of you as being smart. It seems that they also tend to put you in the same class as any others in your grade if you are taking a class that is a grade up just so you know somebody in it.
