I have built a PC a little while ago, and it is pretty good, currently running a 670. I am wondering if it would be better to get another 670 to put in with it, or replace it with a 680. However, I am not planning to add another 680 on to that for a while if I were to get one. I do have a friend who I can give the 670 to so it wouldnt be a waste. Which do you think would be better for performance?

I think the sli configeration may be better than the 680 and it would be faster, i would reccemend a sli config for a gamer!

I would have to say, just go with a single 680. You will have more heat, noise and consumption from a SLI configuration compared to a single card. Possibly SLI'ing a 680 is a good idea in the future, but for now... sell the 670 and get a single 680... thats the best IMO. Having 670 SLI just limits you for when you do want to say, go for another 680 if you already have one.

What are you using it for? Gaming?

Why would you recommend a single 680 or SLI 670s?

Yes it's more heat, noise and power consumption, but that's for a reason.

SLI 670s beats a single 680 hands down.

It's faster and performs better.

Now two 680s in SLI would be better but go with 670s if you can't afford sli 680s.

Well he said he wouldn't SLI a 680 for a while if he did go with a single 680. It would just make sense, as there is a slot open for a 680 already.

Depends on what game. Some will work better with SLI others with the single

Most games WORK with SLI, not all though. Anything older than like 5-7 years, chances it MIGHT work with SLI. If you like to play the retro games, SLI might not work... but lets face it, retro games don't utilize much GPU power from these cards now a days.

For example, if you play GTA 4, you won't have the benefits of a SLI configuration because it doesn't support it.

OP, if you think you might be able to get another 680... go for the single 680 for now. Make sure your mobo supports SLI. If you feel you probably wont, just go with 670s SLI'd.

Scaling is something you want to look at as well.
