Thorsten Heins, BlackBerry’s chief executive, has claimed that Apple has not kept up with the pace of innovation.

Speaking at the launch of the new BlackBerry mobile phones in Australia, Mr Heins paid tribute to Apple’s achievements with the original iPhone in 2007, but said that the company’s market-leading reputation was vulnerable to newer ideas.
He predicted his company would have 100,000 native applications, an area where the company has been seen as lacking, in time for its Z10 phone launch in the US launch later this week.
Mr Heins told The Australian Financial Review, “Apple did a fantastic job in bringing touch devices to market ... They did a fantastic job with the user interface, they are a design icon. There is a reason why they were so successful, and we actually have to admit this and respect that.”

I think BlackBerry are one of the firms that can't really talk about Apple, considering BlackBerry sales have dropped dramatically as well as they rolling out HSDPA much, much later than other phone companies have. The Z10 was quite disappointing to many of it's consumers, and since the public have spoken for wanting the keyboard back, they're releasing the Q10, which seems like a substantial improvement, but the app market is still awful.

The only people who where disappointed by the Z10 where the typical apple fans because if not they would have received an order for one million 7z10's from a large petroleum company also they wouldn't have sold out on there first day on sale in London , India, Newyork , Toronto ...ect and they still wouldn't be selling for well over 3000$ on ebay
.The public never has spoken for wanting keyboards back if they did you would see htc and samsung making keyboard model phones because that's how if works supply vs demand right now people want phones with big screens so that's why all you see is phones with big touch screens but do you see any keyboard phones from any other maker then blackberry ? What Blackberry is doing is smart they are appealing to multiple markets by releasing 2 phones .

How can you say blackberry can't talk about apple. Apple lacks A LOT of things to this day like.
-bluetooth transfers
- NFC
- Expandable memory
-Flash
- LTE( Which was added to the five but previous models like s and 4s never had while the blackberry bold which came out close to the same time as the iphone 4 has LTE )
-Wireless Charging
-Removable Batteries
(Most of these simple features blackberry has had for years )

What BlackBerry has done is amazing they have built a completely new OS from the ground up and with this they have added a lot of new innovated features something that apple has not been doing for awhile . Also not a signal line of code from the old 7 year old os made it onto the new os. You should know IOS is now pretty close to the 7 year mark I'd love to see them build a new os. But instead they are going to continue adding a little each software update until they end up in blackberry's position where they are forced to sink or swim.

And really do you have 300,000 thousands or heck even a thousand apps on phone? What matters Is the quality of apps over the amount and that is what Blackberry has been doing getting quality apps into its ap market and lauching with 70k apps is amazing considering its a new os and apple only launched with 30k apps when it lauched the first os.
So now please explan how blackberry has nothing on apple ?

LOL Blackberry is obsolete to apple in most ways.
BUT
they're right there are loads of things that Apple lacks (that Android has) as steve mentioned.

They've done hard wark trying to resurrect their OS back up, maybe it'll get better over time after they release some more products but for now, they're still obsolete.

You are so right. I would believe it more if it was from the head of another company.

Well they're not wrong. Apple products are woefully behind on a technological level when compared to basically any parallel product. The only thing Apple is good at is marketing, and they're REALLY good at marketing.
