This was my American Government final a few months ago, and it was to create an inaugural address. here it is.

Good day, my fellow citizens of the United States of America. These states started out with a war, just as what is going on in the Middle East. But in the end, we came through victorious in our quest for freedom. We have been free for over two hundred years, having done so much in that time to secure a greater sense of liberty for our people. As a country, we have many problems that need to be addressed. Our citizens are not united as people. Our economy is still in tatters, even though it is looking up. Our education system needs major reform. But there is hope. We, as a nation, are still one of the global economic powers, despite the recession that we have been going through. We know what it takes to get this country back on its feet. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again, but only if there is faith in our government.

I am standing before you all today to declare my plans for us being united as people, and not just as citizens. I want to help everyone be declared as equal in these United States. I want people to be comfortable as they live in these states, and not live in fear because of being who they are. Because of this, I would like to reform equality laws to include the LGBT community and anyone else that voices concern for their well-being. Anyone feeling oppressed or discriminated against by other people needs to voice their opinions and views. Many communities could benefit from legislature regarding equality, such as the LGBT community, the Native American community, and so many more. The economy of our country is still recovering, and I would like to reinforce it so major economic breakdowns do not happen again. The first thing I would do is reduce our dependence on foreign sources of fuel. If we open more onshore oil deposits and natural gas reserves, we may create over half a million jobs, right here in the U.S. We would also manage to reduce imports on foreign fuel and there would be a major increase in federal revenue. This increase in revenue would lead to fewer taxes on the hard-working, middle class families of America. I also propose that there be more taxes on the wealthy families. The middle and lower classes need tax breaks, and by taxing the upper class more we would be able to lower taxes on the middle and lower classes. The economy will recover with time, and with your cooperation. Our education system is failing to provide children with an adequate education. The “No Child Left Behind” Act of 2002 is not enough to ensure that our children have a decent education. I will abolish the “No Child Left Behind” Act and replace it with something that will truly measure what needs to be fixed in America’s school systems. The students’ performance will not be measured by race or by gender, but as a whole. There will not be any more annual testing of children due to this act. Instead, basic skills assessments will be given to students in the best way they learn. Not all students are good test takers, so they will be given an option of how they would like it done. Those that like taking tests can choose to take it as a test or they could choose other alternative options.

There will be many obstacles that we will have to overcome to achieve our goals. Political partisanship in Congress will surely be a problem that we will have to overcome. I propose more cooperation between Democrats and Republicans on issues where they have similar views. Afterwards, I would bring up an issue that I have that they may, or may not, have differing views on. If they have differing views, I would try to propose a variation in the middle of what each side wants. I also think that getting the Senate to vote on an issue and not filibuster would also be a major obstacle. The only way I can see anything getting done is to eliminate the filibuster in the Senate. Senators have complained about the practice in the past, and I intend to put an end to it. Our country is in great shape considering what the past few years have done to it. If we, as citizens, can become united in our quest to rebuild our nation, we will be very successful by the end of my first term in office. Together we will be strong. Together we will be proud. Together we are the United States of America. Thank you.

A- 92%
The average length for this was around 4 pages. This is only 2 and a half. And before I took this, my teacher had graded only four papers A- or A.
