Hi
I am really lucky to be being given £10000 from my aunt and uncle, any idea what i should spend it on when i am old enough to be able to?
The obvious thing would be uni but i'm thinking i could use it for a deposit on a flat as well. I want to be able to lead my own life once i'm 18 and be independent but i want to go to the UCL. (I know i am planning a long way ahead but it can't do any harm :))
Any ideas what i should spend it om?

Depending on how old you are now, I'd defo open a fixed rate bond of however many years it is until you go to Uni.
If you're 16 then you could put the value of your tax free allowance into an ISA and get a fairly decent return on the £10,000.
Just don't spend it right now, you might end up with very little student debt.

I would invest part of it into something profitable, like stocks or something, and save the rest for uni.

Save it. You'll be happy you have the money someday. Don't just go blow it and waste it on junk. Save it for something meaningful someday.

Spend... such a nasty word. Invest it, buy stocks or silver, both are great ways to earn more money with time given. Just remember to invest wisely. Also, why not charity?

This. If you have any intention of going to university.

I'd spend it all on tickets for dance/house events, alcohol and a holiday to a party destination. I'm terrible with money though. I know I should say invest it but that's no fun

Put it in a high interest savings account, earn interest.

I'd still say save it just maybe not for uni, you probably wouldn't really need it all you get your tuition loan and a maintenance loan and your parents would probably help you out a little.
Personally if I was you I'd save it for maybe a car, holiday etc. but obviously I don't know what you want just try not to be frivolous with it.

Make sure it's wisely invested and don't touch it until college. An education is an investment in your future.

You should save it for college! College is getting extremely expensive now a days! But you should save it as a safety money first, so if you ever find yourself almost broke, use it! And if you haven't after college, then use it for whatever you want! :)

i completely agree. u should find a bank or something where u can put it into a cd or an interest bearing bank account. then when u need it, it will have gained interest and u have will even more than that.
