So my dad to told me about this thing on a some what football chat forum web site, were apparently the Vatican bought out a certain street block that had a hotel and a gay bath house. I don't have a link to the info but I'm sure you can go google it. They are pretty much just getting a percentage of the money produced and letting them do there own thing. I'm just thinking about it, isn't all things gay against what they stupidly spew?

It's quite a funny story, but I mean, on the scale of hypocrisy, this would rank low on the Vatican's historical contradictions.

I wasn't trash talking, I was pointing something about the Vatican. And they aren't really that holy tbh, a lot of them are just oppressive, mysoginist(dunno how to spell it), hypocrites. The bible was made by a bunch of poor, "he-man woman hating", shepherds.
And most of the cardinals don't believe in the stories, just the philosophies made by jesus christ.

Tell me, how are holy people pedophiles? Of the 13 candidates for the new pope, 11 are uspected pedophiles. During the Rennaisance, the popes of Vatican did things unimaginable, what they did is so disgusting, I will not speak of what they did, not on this forum, I can PM ypu on what they did if you want, butit is disgusting.

TRASH TALKING* It's not all one word, also the vatican is full of child molesting paedophiles, I mean what is there to like? Unless you are a paedophile as well and want to join the elite ranks of kiddy fiddlers. A bunch of oppressive bigoted wankers in my eyes, the pope is king of the wankers in my eyes. Religious head cases like you going off on rants about holy places does my head in.

Israel is the most holy place on earth, not the Vatican.

Many people didn't like the previous pope because he tried to cover up a lo of stuff that happened within the church. You shouldn't think of the whole church as evil, cause there are so many more who do good. The few that are child molesters ruined the name of the church in that sense.

The Catholic Church is essentially a business, Catholics themselves admit to this (some of them). They stand up for what Christianity believes in and they stand up in a powerful way, because they are a wealthy and powerful voice of Christianity. Their views are not bigoted but old fashioned.

They're not being hypocrites by having a place of living NEAR BY a gay sauna. They're being tolerant of it, which is what Christianity teaches. Someone can be tolerant of something while disagreeing with it at the same time. For all we know, the church can be planning on having it removed, I can already imagine it, they get a few politicians to speak up for the church, and bam, that place gets removed. I wouldn't even be surprised that the church would kill someone who gets in their way and be completely clean from it. The church has powerful ties with both the Italian government and the Sicilian mafia.

Broken Pen, of course there's a place called Israel. That's one of the most closed-minded things I've ever heard anyone say....

It's not closed-minded when you consider that Broken Pen is from Iran. There are a few Middle Eastern countries that do not acknowledge Israel as a nation. It's known as occupied territories to many Arabs, and in a way, I can see where they're coming from. There were people forced out of their land where a religion pretty much set up their home base.

Just because someone's viewpoint is different than yours - that doesn't make them wrong. As far as calling someone closed-minded, you may be calling the kettle black here.

The Soviet Union said there were no such places as Latvia and Estonia. That didn't make it true. Israel is recognized as a nation by the UN, isn't it? They're kinda the authority on that stuff.

Understood, and I agree.

But you can't disregard someone as being "closed-minded." He has a point - in his country, Israel isn't recognized.

I'm not picking because he's Iranian. I couldn't care less. The point I'm making is that denying the existence of a place that exists is if not closed-minded, definitely...something. I can't think of a better term.

You can't discount where he is coming from. Yes, for most of the world Israel is acknowledged as a country. There are also places where the maps may be different, as much as many people will disagree with it.

There are also some countries who don't give a crap what the UN says. Even in the countries that choose to recognize the UN, there are citizens (like in the US) who don't agree with them.

From Webster's:

closed–minded Function: adjective : obstinately resistant to argument or to unfamiliar or unwelcome ideas

What would be an acceptable way for me to express my viewpoint then?

Maybe that you disagree.

And by that definition - you're describing yourself. You're pretty resistant to the thought that another country (as much as you disagree with it) might have a different viewpoint.

Not at all. But "closed-minded" implies that an opinion doesn't even deserve thought. The two of you just have differing viewpoints. There's no reason for you to call him closed-minded. Your definition of "correct" isn't the same as his "correct" obviously.

The two of you were taught and think differently. That doesn't make him closed-minded at all.
