Nope.
It will add muscle on, which actually weighs more than fat.
If you want to loose weight, do cardio and eat well.

I disagree. Lifting weights does burn calories and raises your potential to burn calories at rest. I agree that cardio and proper nutrition are very important, but lifting weights is also. Cardio will burn more calories, but lifting weights will help you in stamina, metabolism, and physique as you lose weight.
Furthermore, I assume the OP is asking to lose weight to get a leaner physique. Therefore, lifting helps shape your body to how you want it, rather than just remove fat.

Not by just lifting. While lifting will burn calories, it will also build muscle mass.
Lifting (as well as other strength training), in addition to diet and cardio exercises will do wonders for weight loss.

You will gain weight but lose fat
Most ppl only use a home gym for a few days or weeks then stop.
So make sure you're committed to it before you start

That was my mistake, I was presuming the OP meant just lifting weights.
The calorie burning of weight lifting will have little effect on weight loss if eating and cardio habits are not correct.
Weight lifting does help with your metabolism, however lifting weights and especially weight loss come down to an input to output ratio, and without the proper diet, I stand by that weight lifting will not quickly bring about weight loss.

I have to agree. I tried doing this and end up getting muscles. Then I get tired of my home gym because of the atmosphere. I headed to the regular gym and so far, I am still motivated to attend weekly sessions.

^that. Sometimes going to a public gym is beneficial. People are around to help if you need it, and give some tips. Generally the people are friendly.
