Are there any legal implications with being in artistic nude photo at 15?
Want to talk to my parents about it soon
A friend or relative could take it but I'd like to have to keep and take the same photo every 5 or 10 years for the rest of my life and show how the real me has changed etc
Nothing sexual

In what I've read, there is a legal angle to underage "nudists" but if it's sexually suggestive, then it is considered child pornography which is illegal. I'm not completely sure where the line is crossed though

The law differs by location, but most countries will have a law set at 18 or above as underage nudes depict a minor without clothes, which also classifies it as child pornography. That being said it depends what you're showing as well, i.e. a topless photo with leggings and from behind (so it's just your back) is fine.

it depends on uses but all the same if u take the pictures i wouldnt show them to alot of people because people inturpert things differently. one may think it is ok and others will think its child porn because ur nude.

Don't go there.
Any nudity of a minor can be twisted as sexual, no matter the context

Nudity of minors is legal if it is not explicitly sexual (camera focused on sexual organs, body in a provocative position, etc...). So you could take the picture.
ShatteredWings is right though, every nude picture can be twisted as sexual, but I'm not here to give you moral advises.

Well any clothed, bikini, underwear photo could too
I could wear a burqa and my brothers could find some sexualised comment to make
I'm still a believer in 'nude not rude'

If it's fine to you, then I have nothing to say.
However, not only pedophiles (well, ephebophiles) may twist the pictures, but law enforcers as well, which could result in legal actions taken towards the person that took the pictures...

I think that anything that shows a person "nude" is illegal inthe US for anyone under the age of 18. Now as for what the definition of "nude" is an be the trickiest part. I'm know that it varies widely from location to location and varies for male and female. In SC, nude is defined as xposed pubic region or nipple/ areola for females. So here in my state it would be illegal till ur 18 unless there is some exception to the law that I don't know about

It depends as brook shields gets naked at like 13 in the film pretty baby and as its not a sexual manner it's not a child porn if it is purely art and no sexual poses or anything along those lines it's legal it's when the picture or film is of a sexual nature or even hints at it like pictures of nudist family's is no illegal as they are just enjoying there holiday

Well, thats something that I want to do as well, but was allways told thah its illegal and wrong. I really think that if you take pics not in a sexual way, and keep it to yourself theres no harm. I made videos of me mbating and pics, but was just me and I deleted afterwards, but the pics u are saying are the artistic kind, and u can keep them forever. I wish I could take pics like that too, maybe I doo it, in private anyway.

Miley Cirus did that topless shoot there was all that fuss over... And for nothing it seems. That shoot showed nothing and wasnt sexual or anything. Its all to go with context. If you (and your parents) are happy with you doing it, and its not sexual/porno photography, then there shouldnt be much of an issue. I just wouldnt go showing them round your friends, etc. And I most definately wouldnt been doing full-frontal until you are over 18.
But I deffo agree 'nude not rude' :)

Yes but the laws are about nudity wrt sexual. Underage in a bikini is fine.

does nudity mean nipples? or is nude just when you have no bottoms on? my stepdad's father (so i guess my stepgrandfather lol) is a photographer and he photoed me without a top on on the beach.

It is nudity.
But as I said, it's legal if for artistic purposes so even if you were completely naked it'd still be legal.
Where art stops and porn commences is a big question though. Was your topless the main motive of the picture? Or was it just a detail enhancing the overall image?

In most places in the US for women, yes. I don't know about Europe.

If it's of a minor, it's illegal. Well at least here in Minnesota, USA

like they said and remember it does change place to place so if your going to do it for that reason i dont see any issues with it but just keep in mind of the laws dont get in trouble

Maybe if you cross your arms over your chest and cross your legs it will be ok

Actually ive rrad that if ur just naked its ok. Like crossing ur arms or anything might make it more sexually suggestive than not crossing them. Just dont do closs ups of gentitals or breasts. Its completly legal. Nudists pictures of every age group in every country are all over the internet in legal well-known websites. Go ahead. The human body is meant to be seen and admired. And also ur idea of taking picks of urself as u grow up is really smart. Uk there are even websites out there for young people to post nude pictures of themselves.

Not to beat a dead horse, but maybe if you covered up. Or could you take it yourself somehow? Otherwise there may be legal implications.

Everything i've been able to find is that this isn't illegal until you post or share it. Taking the photo isn't the issue especially if you take it yourself for yourself. It comes down to the provocativeness and what you use it for mostly as far as I can tell. Don't know if this helps. Also, if you took the picture on a digital camera not connected to the internet and never put it anywhere but for you as you've said, who would know of its existence anyway?

Personally I don't see the problem if you make sure the only person who has access to the photo is you.

Personally, I can't see how it would be a problem. A lot of laws are different in certain places, though and some allow for nudist photography or "artistic" photography in a non-sexual, non-exploitative manner, but that all comes down to speculation, really. What one person sees as artistic is pornographic to another. It's a risky line, however, a very enlightening one to cross as an artistic media (me and a friend took pictures of ourselves when we were fifteen to practice anatomy sketches and I know she still has the picture of me somewhere).
