Odd comparison, but Green Day hands down.

Hard to compare.. They're both quite different from each other so it's not really a fair comparison.

I'll choose Green Day, though. Not necessarily because I like them more, but because I grew up in an era when they were popular, so I can appreciate them more.

My musical preferences lean toward AC/DC. Green Day just isn't quite the right sound for me.

AC/DC hands down, but like everyone else posted, it's not a fair comparison since both bands are from different genres.

I have to say that this is truly like comparing the Beatles to one direction, there is no comparison. AC/DC is hands down better. Green Day does not have a mammoth power cord Kline AC DC, they arnt nearly as badass

OMG! that's so funny cuz my mom and dad joist over them on our house music system. He wins. AC/DC/ followed by Eddie money (I kinda like his stuff) and when he's really feeling it, Alice Cooper. (feed my frankenstien is my favorite cuz it waz on Waynes World, one of our movie nights).

I prefer Green Day. I think AC/DC is alright, but just about all of their music sounds the same to me.

Green Day, even though this is a dumb comparison. I can't STAND the singer of AC/DC (I can't remember if this is the original or the replacement) but he sounds like a dying cat screeching in heat.

It's a competition because Brian Johnson literally sounds like he's dying by choking on phlegm when he sings and Billie Joe Armstrong does not.

This comparison....

AC/DC hands down. Billie Joe Armstrong sounds like he could fit in with a crappy, garage-found and bound band. Don't get me wrong; he's a hard-working musician, but putting him in the same category amongst the great vocalists of AC/DC that we've all rocked out to is just a serious shame. I will say that Bon Scott had (in my humble opinion) was the best vocalist they had and without him their musial genius probably would have only reached the ears of drunken bar-goers.

Dude, just...no. Brian Johnson sings like in complete falsetto, which is so impressive. His voice is unique. That's something I'm sure most musicians strive for, not to mention when you listen to him, and I mean really listen, he seems to have miraculous control despite the hardness in his voice. You're right, Billie Joe Armstrong doesn't sound like he's choking on phlegm, just his guy-liner maybe

AC/DC

Hands down. I don't see how someone would think that Green Day is better than AC/DC. Sure, they have some good songs, but AC/DC are one of the classics.

poor singing with a good band vs. whiny singing with an average band

Going with AC/DC.

But, like other people have said...two different types of music. Not really a fair comparison.

I don't know what you're talking about, Billie has a beautiful voice. It's a perfect balance of smooth and a little rough and has just enough imperfections to make it perfect.

The intro to this song is the best example of his voice that I can think of off the top of my head, but I just think it sounds perfect.

Brian Johnson has such a harsh voice. Bon Scott can compete with Billie Joe, but Brian Johnson... No.

Aside from the voices, Green days lyrics are far superior in most cases. Granted, they have some down right silly songs, but in general, they have a lot of great lyrics, whereas most of AC/DC's hold up the theme of sex drugs and rock n roll. Green Day's music is more diverse. I do like AC/DC's music, but it all sounds way too similar for my taste. I like when a band shows that they aren't just a childish punk band or a one-track-mind rock band. AC/DC doesn't have that quality that makes for a great artist.

They still don't even compare, but sure... What I meant by Billie's voice is it sounds pop-ish/boy bandish, it's whiney and annoying. I've heard my fair share of Greenday, and despite all of them being like 35+, they sound like a bunch of teenage angsts. Do I think Brian Johnson has the best voice in the world? Of course not, I do think he's talented though, and comparing his voice to a cat dying is ridiculous. Like I've already said, his voice is unique. I doubt he would have ever stepped on a stage with AC/DC if he had a run-of-the-mill voice. And I can't even imagine controlling a voice like that, but he does despite sounding like his vocal chords are detaching. Their lyrics are far more superior? Well that's certainly debatable. AC/DC is and always will be a legend; I highly doubt Greenday (in years to come) will have the same popularity and recognition that AC/DC still receives today.

Their lyrics have more substance, is basically what I meant, and that's not all that debatable. They tell stories not only in single songs, but over an entire album, and each song is still relatable and makes sense on its own. They deal with love, loss, depression, politics and general life stuff. To me, that's better than nothing but sex, drugs and being in a band, because from what I've heard with my dad being a classic rock fan, that's all they sing about. I used to be a huge AC/DC fan, but I grew out of that quite fast. And the legend thing, eh, I don't know. Green Day only started 10 years after AC/DC and are still just as big, if not bigger. Not only that, but they're still incredibly active. AC/DC hasn't put out new music in a while. And if they have, it must not have been a big deal, because I didn't hear about it. I know I'm biased, since Green Day is my favorite band, but personal preference aside, I think it's clear that they're just better artists.

Lol. Just lol.

AC/DC has sold over 200 milliom albums in their career, Back in Black is the second most successful album of all time by a single artist/band.

Green Day, still an impressive, 75 million.

As for everything else arguing over music is silly since it is essentially dowm to individual taste

For me AC/DC any day.

Also last time AC/DC put out new music it was in 08 and it was sort of a big deal
