So I have a really big crush on my friend who's also a boy. He's bi and he knows I am too. I want to come out to him telling him how I feel about him, but other people don't know that i'm bi, and it might become a really awkward situation. Any advice about how I should approach him and avoid others from finding out?

This is a tough situation especially if others don't know you're bi. If you really like the guy and he already knows you are into guys, then there is no harm in letting him know. The two of you have to work together to make it seem you're "straight" if you're not comfortable being out, yet. As long as your friend is all right keeping the relationship quiet for a while, then I would let him know. If your friend is someone who will demand you date him in public and will tell everyone you're bi, then I would not risk it. If this person is really decent and can keep a secret, then I think you have nothing to loose by going out with him. After all, I'm sure you two already hang out a lot anyway, and chances are no one will notice anything is going on between you two.
