Does anyone else find it sad that, in the gothic community, there are not many gothic PoC ( person of color represented in magazines, music, or just general media?

It makes me sad.

Especially because we're often looked down upon for not being pale, or for perhaps not having the long, natural, straight black hair worn parted down the middle that is so popular amongst the people.

I don't necessarily have these problems, because I am pretty pale for someone of mixed race, and my hair is usually worn straightened with blunt bangs, but I know of quite a few people who do.

Yeah, I do. Especially on Tumblr. There were a lot of people saying they can't portray the goth style because their skin was too dark, which is a load of bullshit. While yeah, pale skin usually comes hand in hand when you think of someone goth, goth isn't skin colour! It's a type of clothing style or lifestyle depending on how much you're actually into it. To try and exclude people from this because they think you HAVE to be pale is just plain racist.

Thank you! Ohmygosh.
When I think goth, I think dramatics and contrast, be it a pale-skinned person in all black or a dark-skinned person in all white.

,...Goths are still a thing?

Goths have been a thing for centuries.
