Anyone here play GW2 before? What do you think of it? I used to be an avid WoW gamer and loved it but I hated paying monthly and I was addicted, so I quit. I joined GW2 as a casual MMORPG. At fist I didn't like it but I'm getting used to all the differences and starting to like it. I still feel like there are many things they can still change and learn from other MMORPG's like WoW. So, original question, what do you think about GW2?

Good game but still in the end won't defeat the WoW Juggernaut. It's great as a casual game as you only had to pay once. But in turn that makes it easier to leave due to you not putting a lot of time and money into it. That's why people still play WoW, they paid so much money and time into it they're not just going to give it up. So when GW2 does die and it will, WoW will still be running and getting income.

I haven't gotten far in it, but what I did play of it I highly prefer to WoW. There are still days I miss the sheer nostalgia of WoW, but the only thing keeping me logging in was my raid team two nights a week. I quit a bit after we downed heroic Madness. End game is boring as hell, and levelling feels pointless when end game is boring.
GW2, at least in levelling, removes everything terrible about WoW and improves it. There's incentive to be a friendly and helpful person to other players instead of kill-stealing and competition. The quests are less boring and adventure and exploration is a key part of the game. I just think I'm plain tired of MMORPGs of this format as I have not played GW2 all that much, but if you discount the nostalgia I have of being a vanilla WoW player, GW2 is the better game imo.

I like it. I don't have to be playing it a ton to make it feel worthwhile. Also I like the personal story thing so you can sort of play it on your own and then just jump into the group activities as you want to.

Based on the gameplays/rewievs I saw over youtube, I assume it's a good game.
I planned on getting it for christmas, but things didn't work out.
I hope to get it in the following weeks, though.

I think it's a brilliant MMORPG, I enjoy the single player aspect of the story and the multilayer dungeons and exploration. I did quit it for a while but I've started playing it again, my main character is a level 55 Slyvarian thief, all my other characters haven't even reached level 10, since the thief is the only character I'm focusing on at the moment, I hope to power level him to level 80 sometime in the future.

I think WoW is going to end in 2014. Blizzard Is either going to shut it down or just stop updating it. When I used to play a few months ago, I would mostly play old raids and instances, and farm old rep. BC raids and dungeons were my favorite.

It's amazing how the players can feel a sense of unity. People are really looking out for each other and are just focused on killing the boss not competing with others. I wasn't a Vanilla player like you but I was a BC player and old content was just the best.

The personal story is one of the best aspects of the game. I love my personal story and it adds the right amount of humor to the game.

I just picked it up again as well after not playing for a few months. I'm surprised you say you like the dungeons. Most dungeons I join take forever to form, since the lack of a sufficient system for finding a dungeon team, and then people leave once they see it's challenging. I feel like GW2 can learn from WoW and they should but in a dungeon finder. My main is a 41 Sylvari ranger but I avoid dungeons and PvP.

In the case of dungeons, it's just a case of finding a few friends to play with that you can communicate with easily. I don't much like PvP either, what I do like however is WvW, it's so fun, especially now that they're removing the invisible enemy thing in the next patch, also, you should add me. :P

I got them mixed up, I actually like pvp but not crazy about WvW. It's okay but I don't love it. Dungeons are good but much too difficult. I ran a level 45 dungeon, I was level 50 and had 2 level 80's and a 60 something. We finished but struggle greatly. Oh and the past 2 nights I've gotten 2 abyss dyes! one for each night. Learned one going to sell another. Also got white gold dye and a midnight fire dye. One big problem with the game is guilds. You think with a name like Guild Wars the guild system would be flawless! lol but it is extremely flawed. I think WoW has the advantage over GW2 with guilds. GW2 also needs raids. Also..... get rid of miniatures.... they are pointless.
