Neg rep fix

While I love the rep system in general it seems like neg's are abused a lot on the forum.

For example, even though Mods have agreed with my ability to post certain things in "ramblings of the wise" some users took offense to it and negged me down to half of my previous reputation.

This really should be reversible and should have some sort of new system attached to it.

Anyone agree?

Someone shouldn't get negged unless they have done something outright to break forum rules.

You don't neg rep people for breaking rules. You neg rep people who are being idiots or are obviously just making fun or "trolling". If your being neg repped unfairly then do as Jess says. Although you shouldn't care about rep, it's only rep :P

If you feel someone was harassing you with neg rep, you can contact ImCoolBeans or Scarface. On a side note, if someone neg reps you because they found something you said offensive or something along those lines, then the rep would make sense. However, there are always those people that have all neg rep removed, even if it was fair or not.

Edit: I wouldn't mind for the system to be removed altogether, at least for a week, to watch stuff collapse.

If someone neg reps you because they were offended by something you said, then the rep is valid. As already stated, you can contact one of the admins to help remove unfair rep.

Don't take rep too seriously, though. It's not that important.

Im going to have to agree with everyone else, you can have the rep removed if it bothers you and its unfair. Just remember its only a rep and really its not that important.

Generally the rep system is used for people to give you feedback on post and can say why they disagree with you etc. This is why we make it a must that people fill out the comment box when neg repping people. However, a handful of people won't give constructive feedback or give a reason why and they are too cowardly to sign their name stating why they are giving you a neg rep.

Then you have those who neg rep you because you neg reped them with constructive feedback but they feel the need to neg rep you to enhance their virtual penis.

In total honestly mate, I wouldn't worry about rep, we all get over the injustice of the rep system.

If you'd like to contact ImCoolBeans or Scarface they'll review it. Especially if the comment left was borderline rude etc.

Well I'd defiantly PM an admin to get that removed as that would be quite offensive.

The only time you should be offended or hurt by reputation is when it's outright rude and unkind, since that's not what we stand for. Otherwise, if other people have strong feelings about a particular subject and your opinion thereof, then they have every right to tell you about that. That's what the reputation system is for.

If you still don't agree, ask an administrator to remove it.
