I got my biology test results back today and found that I'd earned a 'U'. Now I'm not amazing at Biology, but this is an all time low for me. Before this, the lowest I've ever had was a B, and in Biology too. The assessment was on drugs, and I got 10 out of 23 (43%). I can't quite figure out what I did wrong; perhaps I just wasn't really with it on the day of the test, but ordinarily I'm a straight A student and it's only ever this subject that I've failed at. How on earth do I tell my parents? They'll find out anyway because my report will be sent to their emails... Please help!!!

What's a "U"? If its an "F" (failing as I know it) then my advice is just be straight forward with your parents, in my experience it was better when my parents heard it from me and I told them what happened, either I didn't study, or I did study and the material that I studied just didn't end up on the exam or what ever the reason may be, but I think it'd be best you tell them and just tell them why, if you tried your best and it didn't work out then I would hope they'd understand. Then again not all parents are the same so idk how they react to your grades but best of luck.

It's worse than an F :/ And I guess you're right. I did revise a bit, but most of the questions were based on skills rather than knowledge, and the questions didn't really sink in when I read them.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. Hmmm that's an honest situation then, you couldn't help the fact that the exam was like that, like I said just be honest and be first to tell your parents and hopefully they'll understand, plus it isn't a humungously important exam like the LSAT or MCAT was it? (I'm sorry, just an example, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're still in grade school since your parents get your grades by email) just keep working hard in school like you said you have been, rarely do people have a perfect batting average in school. (Sorry again, for the baseball reference this time lol)

Well, I'm in Britain and it was just an assessment, but it still goes to an overall grade at the end of the year.

Was it part of your GCSE's, if not it is nothing to worry about. If it is you can just resit it. I went from an E to an A in chemistry through one resit. Also 43% sounds way to high for a U

Oh okay yeah where you live its probably different lol I'm sorry about that. Hm does it weigh a lot toward your overall grade? If not then I wouldn't stress too much and just keep pushing but if it does then just try to make up for it on a different assessment that's if there are any more left for you to take. Sorry again, I'm not too familiar with how Yalls grading system works.

It wasn't part of the GCSEs, just a normal test. I think it was high because it was supposedly an easy test, and there were also only 23 questions. That's around five percent per question.

Don't worry about it at all, only GCSE's matter in the long term.

If possible, you should ask your teacher if you can try again. As for your parents, just be straight up with them and also tell them that you will resit, if you get to do that. They will probably be happier with you telling them than keeping it a secret until they get the info from your school.
