Boy Scouts have been infamous for their ban on gay scouts and leaders in their program. Although there have been a few cases where a person's sexual orientation has been accecpted, there have been many other cases where it has not like an 18-year-old Boy Scout named Ryan Andresen was denied the rank of Eagle Scout -- because he's gay.
I am an Eagle Scout and I am gay, so I feel that it is time to stand up against this discrimination. Several people have already showed their disgust in this policy. Both Carly Rae Jepsen and Train have pulled out of their Jamboree because of scouting's stance on gay scouts. Do you feel that it is time for Boy Scouts to change their anti-gay policy? If you do sign this online petition to get the BSA to change their ways. www.change.org/toughscouts

I totally agree. I am in scouts and, well, I'm pretty much gay. Nobody knows but I will admit this is one of the reasons I haven't told anybody. Scouting has always been a huge part of my life, no matter how dorky it sounds. I'm pretty sure I would be able to stay in scouts if I did tell people however, as long as It doesn't become front page news or something. My scoutmaster is very nice, and very accepting.
I am behind you 100%, this intolerance has gone on long enough.

I have never been in scouts but I have a huge problem with the whole thing. I can't stand how hypocritical they are. They are zoo anti-gay and yet sooo many of their adult leaders are gay. I think it's a really creepy program IMHO.

Intolerance is ignorance, as a member of the LBGTQ Community I for one think it is time to fight ignorance wherever it may be present. I may not be a scout but you can count me in.
Wow I sound like a hippie...oh well

Thanks for the support guys. Whether you have been involved in scouting or not this is a big issue that needs to be addressed. We cannot stand for any intolerance or discrimination.

Yes this is an issue that needs to be addressed I hope that my fellow members of the community will stand by me when I say that all this ignorance, intolerance, hate, and discrimination must be stopped. We may be different but we have rights too and this ignorance has gone on for too long now!
Again I sound like a hippie.

Yes, I agree. This is totally rude and discriminatory. I dont see how you can be part of the boyscouts if your openly gay. If youre not openly gay, then I guess you can join if no one knows? The BSA needs to get with the times, so does the government and let same-sex marrage laws pass. And other states need to give them the same rights as other couples. I hate to say this, but discriminating on gays is as discrimination on African-Americans, women, and minorities!!! We finally overcome it but not completely. There are LAWS that protect those people, Why the F*** arent there laws that protect and grant the rights of marrage and other types of benefits to gays, or lesbian, or bi? This is where my 10% only Democratic Party comes in.

Yes but politics takes years to work effectively I mean look at Brown v. Board of Education the 14th amendment established equality for all but years later equality still has not been established and only after this case did The Supreme Court finally realize that we can NEVER be equal while schools are segregated and opportunities are not equally available due to differences in the quality of education received when schools are segregated and the amount of funding differs because of bigotry towards one's ethnicity.

If they just legalize gay marrage, that would be a perfect start and stick a dick up those homophobic butt holes!! It takes years, but that is no excuse in not trying

Teen Sexuality  ROTW. Should be placed here.
And I think it's extremely stupid of boy scouts to do that, and also plain childish. I was in boy scouts for a couple years and so I've experienced some of the stuff they have to do, and it takes a lot of time and dedication to become an Eagle scout, so taking it away is extremely wrong, because it's like taking it away because your mexican or african american. Come on, the guy worked so hard, you just can't decline it because he's gay. He's still a person.

i completely agree with you. but some idiots probably think that when they see two guys kissing each other, others will think it's okay and the behavior will start spreading. then again, if they're straight, they wouldn't be turned on. that's so weird of them to think that way.
i also think that it's wrong for employers to dismiss their gay employees on account of their sexual preference.

At least it's one of those policies that isn't widely enforced. Sure, it may be a bad official policy, but it's really not one that's widely enforced within the organization and is more like those old laws that are still on the books that doesn't get enforced often.
Take that Ryan guy who got kicked out. Him being kicked out had WAY more to do with the widespread reporting of his Eagle project making the Scouts look bad than with his sexuality. His sexuality was really just a convenient excuse.

Hey, whats wrong with getting a little bit of cream and cock now and then? The leaders are afraid other guys might get turned into gays, well... When your in the woods, you,
; jack off together, piss together, and sleep together. Dosent sound much different than what happens in the porn I watch

I think its mostly about the parents. kids have no problem with people being who they are, as long as they aren't harmful or disruptive to the group. But there are homophobic parents who would be upset if something happened, so the organizers/leaders have to do what the parents want them to, to keep themselves from being liable from anything "happening" that the parents wouldnt want happening.

Being a private organization, they are free to do as they will -- just as they are free to forego any government support or funds.
