I'm still in the closet, so he doesn't know that his comments mean anything to me. But I'm really sick of it, so I need to vent.
I'm sick of my brother saying things about bisexual people. For some reason he feels the need to say things about us. I wish I could say this to his face, but I'll say it here.
- Bisexual IS NOT a choice. NO sexuality is a choice for that matter. Just because bisexual people have an attraction to both sexes doesn't mean they're whores or "sleep with anything that breathes".
- Bisexual people ARE NOT gay people who are lying to themselves. Bisexuality is very real and I don't know why people don't understand it.
- Non-heterosexual people ARE NOT "sick" or "dirty" or "disgusting". YOU are disgusting.
Listen right now, homo/biphobes. We are real. We aren't backing down. Now stop preventing my race from progress.

Out of curiosity, is he saying things specifically about bi people? Usually when people make homo/biphobic comments I just hear them refer to "gay people" as a large, generalized group.
Also, I have a lot of bi friends who are pretty close to me so I know where you're coming from with the "bi people are lying" thing. Its pretty ridiculous, but fortunately I have a pretty tolerant school district so you don't get much of that sort of thing.

Not backing down sounds like a great idea! Time to stand up for our rights!

No, he specifically talked about bi people. And it got me really mad, so I haven't said a word to him since. I don't really want to either.

Depends on the person, I consider myself to be half gay.

I hate that, I really do. I hate any kind of discrimination against sexuality. Bisexuality and asexuality seem to get hit the hardest because not only do they get crap from the outside, they also get crap from the inside of the LGBTQ+ community. An Australian study (Private Lives 2) showed that bisexual women had the poorest mental health out of the other sexualities.
Everyone's attractions are valid and real and the only person who gets to be the judge of that is the person experiencing the attraction, no one else.
Maybe you could try explaining to him that bisexuality is a legitimate sexuality, and that all are. It's not black and white/gay or straight. He might learn or realize that in time but there's no harm in speeding up the process. :P

I'm simply going to say I completely agree. My sisters and mom seem to have a similar thinking, although its more mild it still bothers me. I'm "in the closet" as well and their comments sometimes make me want to stay there.

Most kids don't have the maturity to understand/respect LGBT people. It comes with years, your brother is just being a teenager.

I got grounded because I was camming with a boy. My lil bro saw me, and he talked with my dad about it, so for long time I had no cel phone, or xbox or even TV. Was hard, but the real problem is my bro realized I am gay. My dad got the same conclusion. I denied everything, but He is always picking on me calling me faggot and gay. I am realy angry. He is 11 y.o I know, he is still a kid, but I cant tolerate this anymore.
