Thought I'd make this thread again and just wondered what reactions did you get from relatives, friends or whoever when they saw your scars or just found out you self-harm?

My parents went apeshit when they found out (I didn't tell them), they tried to pull up my trousers to see and ugh it was one of the most horrible things, I had to go through it twice as well. Once for each parents, since they're divorced. My friends kind of had no immediate reaction, one of them said "suicide?" straight away but now denies it, think she's forgotten.
Only one person has seen my scars and she thought they were just lines, I didn't tell her that they were self harm scars, she just assumed I was born with them and actually said "I wish I had lines on my body" I very nearly laughed at that.

One friend slapped me in the face.
One cried.
One hugged me.
One almost died.
One didn't freak much at all.
And one was all like "Look. I've been through the same thing." and relating.

I told my mum when I was 13 and she didn't believe me and literally picked up my wrist and said "Pfft! You mean those tiny, weeny things? Right, what did you use and where is it?"
I got out of bed and gave her something I didn't use and gave it to her and she told me to never do it again and I lied to her and said I wouldn't.

They range from mad, to them saying "what are you emo?", to them just being surprised.

I was like 13/14 when my parents found out, they would constantly check for new cuts. Like, every night, I had to stand in front of them so they could see if there was new ones. In the end, I just ended up getting sneakier. They used to take all my compasses away from maths sets, the same with sharpeners, so I just found new ways. Up until I was nearly 16 they did the same thing. Now, they just make childish 'jokes' about it, which doesn't really bother me until they say a certain thing and I just get triggered.
My friends didn't really do anything apart from check my arms and sometimes thighs, and they assumed I stopped. Two of my friends used to self harm so they knew it wasn't the best idea using guilt trips etc. All my friends were fine with it, some people were like, I don't know, disgusted I'd imagine. Other than that, I haven't really told anyone nor have they noticed. Some people see the scars, some people don't, they just don't say anything.

One cried
One now is constantly checking on me
One related
Two stopped
One had no reaction and essentially said, 'oh well'
One jacked up person who used to, told me it was super easy to stop. "Well I stopped to yeah it is that easy." Maybe for him, not for me.
Parents and Teachers don't know, but P.E. teach is catching on, and Mom almost saw. Thank god she didn't.

My friends were very suporting. They knew when I was cutting and some would check my arms and legs every day. If they saw a new cut usually one would slap me and a few others would just say never again. My family doesnt know yet, thank dietys, and I'm hoping the scars will fade before they do.

A friend saw words on my arm once and even though she knows about cutting she's still said "hold on, wait, what is that/what does that say?"
My mom found out from my friends mom after seeing my appology on Facebook to my cousin through her sons account feed, so when she asked the next day she wanted to see and help and for me to stop. Periodically she asks if I still do and I say yes and that's really it because she doesn't know what to do

My mom told me i wasn't that stupid and told me to stop and i told her i would. When she found out i hadn't stopped like i promised she was mad at me and wouldn't even try to understand.
My sister flipped shit...
My stepfather assumed it was an attention thing or suicide attempts gone wrong, he didn't understand and mostly stayed out of it.
My brother basically called me an attention whore the first time then later on when he found out i still did and how long i had been doing it apologized for never realizing and said i "always seemed the most stable" out of us kids.
My friends mostly had been through the same thing so they were understanding, granted they were a bit sad.
Random stranger who i ended up meeting and we started talking then ended up dating made me promise him i wouldn't do it anymore and that I'd call or message him if i hit that point. He gave me his # and had me add him on facebook, also gave me a big hug.
