Do you think we should fear them or not?

Fear? No. Keep an eye out for, yes. The US military is much stronger than Korea's. Really, unless you live close to their country, nobody should be worried.

A Nuclear North Korea would be excellent for destroying SK if things went down. Tentative yes.

Fear? Not quite. They would easily crumble if we went to war.
Watch out for? Definitely. Nukes.

As already stated, they aren't much to be feared. Their military numbers are nothing compared to all of the countries who don't trust them.

However, their nuke threats shouldn't be disregarded.

yes, we should watch out for them. They are part of the axis within the modern world Iran, Syria and North Korea. They repress there whole population, have a cult following of there leader and have nuclear weapons

I wouldn't say we should fear them in the sense that they would/could strike the US, but they definitely could attack South Korea or Japan who are both our allies. It would definitely be a huge ordeal it if happened, so we need to keep an eye on them.

There isn't that much to fear about North Korea. I mean if they were to nuke South Korea and Japan, then France, Germany, Italy, the UK, Russia, and the US (possibly China too) would all invade or nuke NK. The only reason to fear NK is if they have a really stupid and irrational leader who doesn't understand that you can't nuke people without repercussions (unless you're the US). One could argue that the Kim Jong family is already irrational due to their method of governing, but you can't really be a dictator without some knowledge of diplomacy.

they are not a force to be reckoned with. i believe they are all talk and if they plan anything, China,Japan,South Korea and the USA would wipe them out within 24 hours. #FACT!

Yeah that's called Mutually assured destruction, an idea based from the cold war where both sides would pretty much destroy each other through nuclear war. The important thing is to work out how to isolate NK economically and politically. Look at 1950, the US thought that they were not a force to be reckoned with and they got pushed out of seoul

yes but North Korea is only a relatively small country supported by no other countries which could be seen by international reaction to their "Tests" over the past few months.

A small country which has nuclear weapons and a very advanced armed forces. Israel has a very small land mass and look what happened when Egypt wrote them off. They spend a high amount of there GDP on the Armed forces and they have a brainwashed populace who would be mostly happy to fight and die against the 'imperialist west'

Well...Here it is plain and simple. N. Korea has about 1.5 million troops, nuclear weapons, but heres where they'd be no match against the US,South Korea, or Japan. Most of their weapons are from the 50's,and 60's and couldnt even match up to our satellite guided munitions and high tech fighters. The problem with their nuclear weapons is, they have them, but how could they get them to the United States? South Korea reports that they N.Korea's missiles can possible reach the West Coast of the US. Though, military analyst say they are 10-15 years away from having a rocket that can reach the US mainland. Even if they did, they wouldnt do it...

Tactical Nuclear weapons are the way forward, if you have 50,000 troops massing somewhere one bomb can eliminate them. Also your making the typical mistake of underestimating your opponent. We said that the Taliban only had small support and low morale in a 2002 memo, look how that turned out. Also look north Korea will attempt to threaten america in other ways. Warfare isn't the only attack method

we could easily destroy North Korea but my question is how would China & Russia react? as far as I know China is starting to not like NK either so maybe they'd stay out of it.

Fear them? Perhaps not. But surely keep a close eye on them. I do see a scenario where we get a situation such as Iran and North Korea becoming hell bound on starting World War III, a war that would most likely end in a nuclear exchange. Hope it never comes down to that, yet it would be perhaps for the better to rid the world of those two nation's leaders...

I disagree with most, I think we should fear them. I will put this simply, North Korea doesn't have to play by any rules. America is seen as the good guys (or at least that's how we want to be seen) and we have to play by rules to keep our "good guy" reputation alive. We should be afraid because South Korea is our ally and important. North Korea can easily take South Korea and the North Korean's are fighting for who they believe to be god or at least the grandson of god. We should fear them, not for the safety of U.S soil, but for our ally South Korea.

North Korea is like a common douchebag. They want to look tough, but they aren't dangerous to anyone, except for any completely demilitarized countries that are in close proximity.

Fear? For me personally living in the east coast, not at all what so ever, for a person in seoul, yes I'd be terrified to death really

A Nuclear North Korea would be excellent for destroying SK if things went down. Tentative yes.

I agree with this post the most

yes, we should watch out for them. They are part of the axis within the modern world Iran, Syria and North Korea. They repress there whole population, have a cult following of there leader and have nuclear weapons

All diffrent situations, syria was a normal nation except they had a president who wouldn't step down now there's a civil war, this isn't 1960s syria,
Iran? Iran really isn't bad, they have a an almost alphamale like government and so far their bark is worse than their bite, I don't really see them do anything crazy unless there is a change in leaders,

North korea likes acting like a rabid dog to scare off countries, kim jong un received a really good education better than most people here, china and russia will never invade NK unless they are attacked personally

Well todays north korea and yesterdays ussr are no way alike power wise, the most NK can do nuclear wise as of right now is destroy seoul and that's if SK had no air force what so ever to intercept the bomber with the nuke, and if it wasn't for china there would only be one korea right now

North koreas nuclear arsenal is believed to be really small, and their military isn't the most advanced, they prob have a lot of old chinese and Ussr weapons

That probably will never happen

Fear is an emotion that has the capability to cause irrational actions and decisions. So no, fear shouldn't be involved. How about rationality and levelheaded thinking? Sounds better to me.
