Who asks first?

Who usually asks first? The guy or the girl?

The quote that says "A guy needs to work for what they want" or something along those lines makes me assume girls want guys to speak up.

To be honest, I prefer when guys ask me out.

But if I know that he likes me, but he's too shy to ask me out, I might ask him. :)

Traditionally, it was guys who ask girls out, but after decades of guys becoming too shy or dumbed down by technology, girls started asking guys out.

Also helps that now society does not see a lady who asks a gentleman out as a whore.

Usually it's the guy, as it's tradition, but girls can do it too. Personally, as I'm a shy person, I'd rather be asked out than do the asking...

Tradition says the guy's supposed to ask, but screw that. Girls can ask if they want, or if the guy is shy. I'm shy around girls and know that I would never be able to ask a girl out again. I did it once, with a lot of difficulty (like just talking to her), and I will probably never have the nerve to do it ever again. I'd have a much easier time if the girl asked me.
