I am currently a junior in high school. So far, I have not taken any AP classes and I was wondering if that might affect me when I get to college. Also, I am debating between psychology or sociology as my major. I need some advice from seniors or college freshmen what I should do this year because tomorrow I'll be registering for next year's classes and I don't want to make a decision that I'll regret later.
I was thinking of taking expository reading/writing because I really want to learn how to write better since I'm a horrible writer and I have trouble starting with an introduction for the first paragraph and ending with a conclusion. So, I do need to learn these skills before it's too late.
Any advice, guys?

AP classes look really good on your high school transcripts, but that's only if you do at least fairly decently in them. However, AP classes are not necessary to get into colleges and universities. So, if you feel like an AP class would be too much, then I wouldn't recommend taking one. But if you feel like you're up for more of a challenge, then go for it. It's really grades and GPA that matter more - and that's mostly your previous grades. That's why they say your Junior year counts the most when applying to colleges. And then of course, there's the SAT and/or ACT. Hopefully you've already or are planning on taking the SAT this year because it's not good to wait until your senior year to take it.

As for the reading and writing class, I'd recommend it 100%. That's one of the biggest problems that I've heard freshman college students facing - not being able to write very well. Some students even have to take a remedial writing class that doesn't even count as a credit. So you'd save a good step by taking a writing class now.

Every one of my teachers recommend AP classes ONLY if you LOVE the subject.

I took AP US History and AP English. I don't love either of those subjects. It's not about what you love; we're all going to have to do things that we don't love. It's about your work ethic. Are you willing to actually take the time to read more and handle a larger work load than regular or honors classes? Would you study more for quizzes and tests? Those are the types of questions that you should ask yourself if you're considering about taking an AP class.

I never took any AP classes (except one, which I dropped out of), and I still got into a college I wouldn't think would accept me.

Well what school will you be attending next year? If you still are going to be in junior high, then you really shouldn't be taking AP classes, since I don't think junior highs offer AP classes anyways. Now in high school, then if you really want to take AP classes, then join the ap/ib program at your school, and you will have a set up for your 4 years in high school with all the advance classes you need to take. But this is in high school, not in junior high.
